返香港搾車唔洗再考牌？有冇人試過？

Anyone followed the method outlined below to get a HK driving license and drove there?  Was getting the license part easy?  How long did it take?

oh, I just read the HK Gov link again, seems like one doesn't even need HK driving license if staying in HK for less than a year?

Driving on strength of their valid overseas driving licence or international driving permit if they are visitors to Hong Kong (visitors mean that they arrive Hong Kong other than to take up residence for a period exceeding 12 months).

And Canadian driving license is a qualified "overseas driving licence":List of Approved Countries and Places

i think in order to use oversea license, u must use passport to enter HK, and bring ur passport along with the oversea DL...

idea is kinda same as here, or else everyone can give the cop their HK international driver license?

u can get HK license by showing them that u got the BC license and HK ID, it takes about 2 weeks and its about $1000 HKD
you can do the same in china now by showing them that you got a HK DL

For insurance, unlike canada, you don't getting discount the moment you get your drivers license. you need to own a car before you can get discounts.  and the discount only goes to your primary car.  you discount stops when you do not have a primary vehicle. so if u purchase a 2nd car, your discount starts at zero and calculate again.

You still need to apply for the China DL if you have HK DL, there are some driving schools in HK are authorize
from traffic authorities in China for submitting the application form for China DL.

If you are holding BC class 5, when filling the HK DL form, you can put a check mark on 輕型客貨車 and don't put check mark on the automatic transmission. Cause BC class 5 doesn't have auto/manual. It is not worth it if u just put 私家車+自動波 even you don't know how to drive manual

they change the rule now, you cant get light truck license from the BC Class 5.  

you dont need to do anything for getting China license, its $20 RMB and all they need to do is check if your eyes can see stuff and you are good to go.  But you gotta go all the way to guangzhou to do it.
