狗工廠「生產」小狗售賣 惹關注

烈治文市議會現正研究，管制市內寵物店出售來自養狗工廠（Puppy Mill）培育的小狗，或者全禁面止狗隻買賣。寵物店業界則反對後者，認為只會令狗隻買賣潛入地下。
市議員莊士敦(Ken Johnston)不願本市有人販賣來自美國養狗工廠的小狗。他說，市府要確保寵物店所出售的，並非來自不仁道又不健康的養狗工廠。新措施是針對保護狗隻，而非故意打擊寵物店。他指出，一是禁止零售買賣，一是規管培育狗隻牟利的配種師。　
市府職員則建議，遊說省政府推出全省一律的規例，或者要求業界出示狗隻來源地證明，最後一個建議才是全面禁售。
如果通過全面禁售，烈市會是大溫首個城鎮推行禁令，而蘭里市也在考慮中，其他大溫城鎮則任由狗隻在寵物店鋪買賣。
愛護動物協會（SPCA）的虐待動物調查員莫里亞蒂（Marcie Moriarty）同意，養狗工廠為利之所趨，不斷令母狗懷孕，不理會其福祉，小狗出生後則如貨物般展示，沒有社交。
據卑詩省烈治文市Pet Habitat寵物店的負責人洪先生（Ernest Ang，譯音）說，他也反對買賣養狗工廠的小狗。他表示，店裏的小狗是從美國動物經紀亨特公司（Hunte Corp）購入的。
從事寵物店生意31年的洪先生預期，如果全面禁售狗隻，勢必令守法的寵物店關門大吉，地下狗隻買賣湧現。他經營的寵物店，每年賣200隻狗，每隻平均1,500元。
據加拿大廣播公司（CBC）的紀錄片指出，亨特公司是從數個養狗工廠買入小狗。這家在美國密蘇里州（Missouri）的公司每年售9萬隻狗。

The best way to find out if the puppy is from puppy mill is going to the breeder's place. A good breeder will let you see the puppy's parents and their living area. The owner of the puppy mills will not let you see the parents. This is because their living environment is super dirty, and the mom is very weak due to "over production".

Also, of course Pet Habitat's owner would oppose the regulation........... cuz he won't be able to earn big profit, ha........... All I know if that dogs from Pet Habitat eat their own ****, including my dog. According to some books, it's because they were staved when they were a puppy, or their living environment was very dirty. The puppies were covered in dirt and **** but weren't cleaned properly. So the only way for the mom to clean the pupplies was to lick them. As a result, puppies thought eating their own **** is fine..............

That's where we suspect our dog's from........ too bad my dog couldn't talk and verify, ha ha. I warned my parents not to buy puppy from this place, but my mom fell in love with my dog, and he was half price

I heard that they also buy puppies from customers. Then, they will sell the puppies in thousand of dollars and claim that the puppies are from breeders.

Mini. Poodle......... my mom's friend had 2 Pom. All of them were brought from Pet Habitat, and they all eat their own poo 8(3)" />

Eating its own poo has many different reasons.

1) Dog is boring
2) Too much food taste or smell left in the poo, which they think it is food too
3) Owner yelled at the dog when they poo, which the dog think they did something wrong and therefore they want to clean it up themself by "eating" it.

其實我自己冇養狗仔。。。不過有時行過D PET STORE，EX：RICHMOND CENTRE，見到D小貓小狗嘅環境都幾惡劣。D STAFF又唔清潔D籠。。。 有時咁啱見到佢地開飯，嘩。。。D狗仔餓到呢～ 好慘好可憐架 感覺真係只當D小生命係商品咁架咋。
