Congrats! Have you checked on White Day's dresses? I have no comment on their photos since none of my friends have hired them before but I have seen 2 brides who rented their dresses, they don't hem the dresses, so one of them canceled the rental and the other one gotta wear a 4-inch white 鬆高鞋 where she is already ~5'5". Hope things changed.

BTW that sounds unreasonable +$3600 to get gowns, makeup and album?

If they can't then they should hire the $1500 photographers.
It's sometimes "lucky" this way. Cos you save a lot of money in this case. (same apply to food, audio system, wine...etc)

Thanks everyone for your advise.  Yes, I agree with all of you.  

I checked out White Day's album already. My friend is using them in July for their wedding day photos.  I like their album/style - very sweet and warm.  Hee is more "capturing the moment" as KittyLeung74 suggested.  Of course I need to choose something I like. Not that I am treating this as 買菜, but I guess the question is whether I am willing to pay the premium for a 90% vs 100% satisfaction.  Don't know if it makes sense.  To all girls, do you really prefer a perfect wedding and everything to be the best???  Or are you willing to make some compromise for budgeting or other issues?  I really don't know.  I guess it doesn't really matter if your parents will pay the bills for you.  But for people who pay for the wedding themselves, what are your thoughts?  I am just curious.....

Also, I like the fact that White Day provides other services like wedding gown, tuxedo, make up etc so I don't need to search around.  But I guess after I check out more places (like Hee and others), I may change my mind

khaki, Yes, my friend tried out a few wedding gowns and it looked fabulous on her.  I think they do alterations but not 100% sure.  My friend was pretty short (5") but it seems OK on her.

    Of course in the perfect world, I want (as the bride) everything to be PERFECT and THE BEST! It's "once a life time" thing. But in reality, with limited resources, I have to compromise. I guess, just what you like to prioritize? If say out of all the wedding items, you value pictures the most, then you splurge on pictures and lower the budget on something else (say honeymoon, or use home brew wine instead of getting from wine store) etc..Or ask friend to take video instead of hiring someone....etc etc...

yes i think u r referring to me. I am using M4 Studio and I got that price. But this is only photography and the DVD only. Their regular price should be around 2700

when they pay $5000, they feel much better and think that the photos are really good, even though they might just be the same quality as $1500 ones or worse.

think about it, if they all have good eyes, those incompetent photographers would not have survived till today

to me, you can just find a friend with a relatively good pair of eyes
fly him or her to argentina or some exotic beach for a weekend

you can get very amazing photos for 3-4k

i think i would compromise. even if you pay more, you can't guarantee it'll be "perfect." if you do decide to go with the $5k package over the $1500 package, you will expect more from $5k for sure. but is it worth the money??? well... it's hard to say. you will need to do your research.

a lot of the pre-wedding packages include wedding gown and 1 evening gown (you can check if they will allow you to swap the evening gown for a tux if you have your own evening gown) for the wedding day as well. so if you have that kind of pre-wedding package, and you pick the $1500 wedding day photo (no album nor dvd), then you'll have to look for hair and makeup for your wedding day separately. hair and makeup for the bride only will cost you like $200-$400. so that can be a big difference.

try to save where you can. a few hundred dollars here and there will easily add up a few thousand dollars....

yes, my pre-wedding pkg includes 4 dresses, and i got mindy to do my hair and makeup for the day... and so i got M4 to do my wedding day photos because my fiance's sister recommended to us... and bonus we got a "deal" on it because she works at cathay. Like i said again, regular price is 2700
