Want to try AutoX. How to start?

Hey,

I know a few of the hardcores are into AutoX here. I am interested in trying out AutoX and see if I'll like it, but not so sure what is the best course to do so. I looked at VCMC website but not too sure which event is suitable for a noob to go to. Any regulars mind to give a few pointers? Thanks!

take the velocity one driving school first... I think it'll be your best $150 you ever spend on it.
I took that 3-4 years ago... It's good they provide a safe environment to let you know your car's limit.
Instructor ratio is approx 1 per 2 student or so. So it's not bad, consider it's a full day driving school...

Is the Velocity training really for people interested in AutoX already? Cuz I want to see if I like it first before I plunge $150??

I've no experiences with the BMW driving school, but the Velocity got skid pad, big sweeper (good old boundary bay airport layout always had one), offset gates, brake, weight transfer etc... They also included a classroom lesson...

Back then, I had a few free ride inside those auto x car out on the course... I liked it and velocity got me into that sport. If there's auto x events, you can go there and ask people there to give you a ride and see how you like it first before you pay $150. Maybe that will work out easiler for you

I have taken the driving training course (from bmwccbc) before la. Personally I found it very useful.

auto-x would benefit drivers a lot on steering input, throttle response and reaction time, it would benefit thru daily driving; but when u are TOO addicted to it, lots of the time i think the setting is not really for street use, ie hwy driving...

have heard quite a few ppl wrote off their car with auto-x setup, or at least some serve damage; but if u dun mind buying tires and cleaning cone marks, auto-x is worth the money to get some skills; but long term wise track day is still the way to go ~ no need to compete with others, just compete with yourself!
