those spike are nothing... it not that sharp.
if you afraid, use a two layer cloth and wape it, it wont go through

Buy from any supermarket that has the cheapest price at that time, which chopped into pieces. Go home, rinse them with tap water briefly and cook in different but simple ways such as shabu and steamed. The possible biggest you can get at a supermarket won't be as big as the ones sold in restaurants, maybe only up to 7+/- lbs, but already good enough for 2 people for at least 1-2 meals with side dishes.

My work involved working with chefs,
and most of the top chefs are my friends.
I meet with them  in group often.
My students won some awards at the competition
next week so I will be attending the event.
