With additional assistant braking you can earn another 0.30m/sec^2... That turns out to be 872m.

That's why under common practice no exception is allowed for trains running at operational speed can share the same track region or requires a minimum of 3 minutes separation...

After this collison, I believe seat belts will become the standard on every China high speed rail carts...
