I am not concern about Chinese on the GSP. My sister doesn't really speak Chinese... She translate that into English in her head anyway.

I run Tomtom GPS on my Windows Mobile phone.  I downloaded Cantonese voice so it gives instructions in Cantonese.

yes, my mum's friend said her husband got it from a chinese mall in richmond.  but she doesn't know which one.

main user is not going to need special functions...
but need clear text-to-voice (can adjust volume)
and a map that's able to update
car AC adapter ^^

我用過一個百零蚊o既tom tom,收得好差,去到LA 直頭係錯哂..完全靠害
亦都試過Garmin Nuvi 5000 GPS Portable Navigation System (BEST BUT ($549.95), o係vancouver 一路去到Lynnwood 都ok,但係入到downtown seattle 都係死亡..唔好話叫佢帶你返屋企,佢連自己o係邊都搵唔到.
普遍去到多高樓大廈o既地方或者落雨天個GPS 都收得唔好..
建議你買o黎試o下,唔o岩就refund o左佢...

Actually it's a common problem for GPS that they don't work properly around 高樓大廈.
I was STUCK in downtown NYC at night with the stupid GPS. I drove around and around and all those taxi drivers keep honking... It took me > 1 hr to find my way back to the hwy out of NYC. I was hungry, tired and scared. It was a true nightmare.....

gps 只係附助性質.最好睇一睇map 先好用佢...
去到收唔到signal o既地方,你亂咁行,佢再帶返你返原路,去返收唔到signal o既地方,跟住自己又亂行...

that prob happened. I didn't plan to drive to NYC. I was going take the train and I had no driving map. Only map I had was those from BCAA tour booklet.
Anyway, that's the end of driving in NYC. The next day I took the train and it was much easier.

So which Garmin Model is the best for the following use:

- local BC or to AB
- USA - Seattle / LA / San Diego (shopping use)
- fast to retrieve map and instruction

Not necessary Chinese.. English is ok.. (able to upgrade the map every / twice a yr)

It is a lot cheaper for GPS. I have a Nuvi 360 for a couple years. So far so good. I used it for West Coast. I don't have experience as other LYKs have in the cities. Some part of the map may be outdated, but it you can manage to get in and out without too much a problem.  I think 360 is outdated, you can get 760, 780 instead.
