病 婦 伏 屍 急 症 室 一 句 鐘 無 人 理  

　　(星島日報報道)一名婦人在紐約布魯克林區一間精神病院急症室等看病等了差不多二十四小時後，突然從椅子上倒地。她最初還在扭動身體，但不久後完全不動。令人齒冷的是，她倒在那兒一個小時，當值的醫護人員及保安竟然視若無睹，無人上前理會。最後女病人被發現已經死亡。整個過程被保安攝錄機拍下，隨即在當地引起震動，人權團體和社會人士紛紛譴責醫護人員失職，又慨歎時下人與人之間的關係冷漠。

　　紐約民權組織公民自由聯盟（CLU）高調地公開這宗令人心寒的事件，也發放攝錄機所拍得的片段。女死者的家人已委託律師入稟法院，控告該家醫院的醫護人員失職及虐待病人。事發後，兩名保安及四名醫院職員被院方開除。

　　事發於當地時間六月十九日下午，四十九歲婦人艾絲敏‧格林（Esmin Green）在非自願的情況下，被送到布魯克林區的國王縣醫院（Kings County Hospital）。院方指她的精神狀態有異常，情緒激動，需要接受二十四小時觀察。

　　錄影片段顯示，她本來是坐在椅上等候的，突然滾在地上，當時是五時三十三分。初時她還不停地扭動身體，但到六時○八分，她便毫無動靜，面部朝下。

　　期間，附近的人包括兩名保安人員，都沒有上前協助。其中一名保安人員明明見到她倒在地上，但看了約二十秒後便迅速走開。另一名保安人員更加誇張，搬了張椅子，看熱鬧似的動也不動。一名醫護人員經過， 也沒有理會。

　　六時三十五分，即艾絲敏倒地後超過一小時，終於有一名醫護人員走近，用自己的腳輕輕推她，這時才發覺她已死去。三分鐘後，其他醫護人員才走來幫忙。

　　據紐約《每日新聞》報道，當局懷疑曾經有醫護人員涉嫌偽造醫療紀錄，藉以隱瞞這宗事件。有關方面初時收到的紀錄，指艾絲敏曾經自行起來去洗手間，後來安靜地坐在椅上，最後不知何故死去，但錄影帶顯示實情並不是這樣。

　　紐約公民自由聯盟總幹事利伯曼說，事件關乎到人的尊嚴，幸虧有保安攝錄機幫忙，才揭露整件事件的真相。負責管理該精神病院的紐約市生及醫院管理局經初步調查後，下令革除六名醫院職員，包括兩名保安員。

　　該局發表聲明，對事件表示震驚和難過。紐約市長彭博說，他也看過那段錄影片段，指內容「令人作嘔」。

Oh no .. even worse then Canada ..

One time .. I went to emergency .. waited for 5 hr ?  then I recovered already ..  

And last yr, went to ER with my brother again .. from 7 pm till 12am ..   ended, we gave up, since those nurse said,  if we went home, wait till next morning, and go see doctor, will be faster ...

they just won't give a sssshhhh. abt u
I rmb I used to have stomache-ache every once in awhile
&I always wait til i recovered
I rmb one time, when i'm recovered...
I wanted to leave but they don't let me
instead, they took so much blood from me
& made me wait for even longer...
& came back tell me that "everything's fine"

just wondering for those who recovered while waiting in emergency....

why did you go to emergency in the first place if the pain/unwell could go away within a couple hours? i mean...if it wasn't a big deal (like a recurring stomachache) and you know you will wait a couple of hours to see a doctor, why bother to go to the emergency room in the first place?

if everyone goes to the emergency for little things, then the ppl who need it the most will have delayed care

of course, if you suspect it is more serious and you require immediate medical care, it's prob. best to call an ambulance...but if you're not bleeding, not in absolute pain that you've never experienced before...those doctors in emergency will just put you aside and care for those who need immediate care.

I actually got inside right away once because of an allergic reaction. My whole face was swollen and esp skin above 1 of my eyes. I could hardly see thro that eye. I must had look scary.
