I am going to HK in late NOV for a month with my family. Can anyone advice good and cheap place to stay? Htoel is too expensive for a month. Please give me some idea...thanks.

i am interested in knowing more about this service too. I am thinking about Jan 2009

I stayed at 汀蘭居 for 1.5 months last winter....it's located in Tsuen Wan and costs about 14000 a month...
minimum stay is 1 month then it's pro-rated

IMO, it's a great place...good service, free internet in the lobby/cafe, has a gym and swimming pool
also has great (and free) shuttle bus service to the MTR station as well as some local malls...I've also noticed that it's shuttle bus is the one that operates the latest in the area. Some service apartments only have shuttle bus service until 8pm....this one has shuttle bus till 11pm or 12am.

They have 2 room options...one is a hotel-room style for about $9000 a month...the room I stayed in is about 600sq feet with one living room and one bedroom and kitchen. You can also have a sofa bed in the living room for an extra $1000. They have self-service laundry downstairs..but most people bring their laundry out to clean because it's cheaper outside. Also the larger room has free internet access. They have full room cleaning and change your sheets and towels twice a week.

I think they have a promo now...if you book before Sept 15, you get 10%

it might seem a bit far..but usually travel to Causeway Bay only took me 30 mins...which isn't too bad. Also their rooms get booked as far as one year in advance...so...if you want to book within the next couple months, better call and ask.

if u were to spend 14k a month, u don't need to live in service apartments in tsuen wan.

hung hom ones are around the same price.

but hung hom ones don't have shuttle service...also no MTR
and also the hung hom ones don't include bi-weekly cleaning or linens....
i asked about those before and it's more like renting a furnished place rather than a hotel-like service apartment

my cousins stayed in a service apartment in Wan Chai about 16k a month...but it's super small. but it's convenient. The ones in Tsuen Wan are more like western-style hotel rooms

its gonna depends where u go out or if u are gonna go out late.
汀蘭居 is across the street from where my parents live, it cost $30 taxi just to goto my apartment in Tsuen Wan and probably close to $40 just to get to the nearest MTR station (Kwai Fong or Tsing Yi, depending on which line you take and they are both closer then Tsuen Wan MTR)

There are hardly anything outside other then those shuttle bus or red mini bus to jordan.  going to TST will take at least an hr from there if u are taking public transport, even driving needs about 20-25 min.

Hung Hom is about 15 min walk to hung hom station and even taxi to TST would only cost around $30 and you can get to anywhere in about 10-15 minutes.
