Anyone been to Hakkasan?  How do you like it?

I've been there a couple of times when they first open, and had recommanded a bunch of people to go...  But then we stop going because of their price...

Back then, their food was pretty good, but we don't really want to spend $35 per person + $5 for drinks + $7 for dessert for Chinese food....

They are good Chinese food, but 2 people $80-$90 no alchol Chinese food I could get "abalone shark fin" la.....

Their Chinese food is good. Chinese food also deserve $80-90 for 2 person, not only Japan food or French food.

I don't see why it's related to Japan or French food?! You are just too creative!

I've been there once, food wasn't too bad but just so-so, not special at all, varieties are too limited, prices were a bit overpriced, which meant the food and service didn't really worth that much. I didn't go back again.

fusion 菜中算好食啦, 好難當一般中餐0甘評分啦, 好似comparing apples to oranges 0甘...氣氛setting都唔同.

Depends on the menu, $80 for 2 is relatively inexpensive;
a few years back I attended some wedding banquets at Shiang Garden,
$1800 -$2500 for  a table of ten, 15% gratuity, alcohol extra.
The invitation card included the printed menu with price so we had to
send the "Cash Gift" accordingly. It was 2003-2005.
I know some people in Chinese restaurant business, they are reluctant to sell some $1,000
banquets for no profit, if the customers insist to have dried Abalone, Braised Shark's Fin
and Bird's nest for dessert; they would write it off as promotions.

Call me Old Cake, I never learned to appreciate "Fusion Cuisine" especially Chinese food involved.
Personally, I love the authentic Hakka style rustic home cooking,
however, it is not High-Return of Investment so not many restaurateurs interested in doing it,
considering the salary and opex are not any lower.

I am surely open to good fusion dishes. But the thing is, if the chef isn't that innovative, with heart, with skill and knowledge, better just follow the old tradition. Good fusion food is not just the name, it's about the actual content.
