Agree.  It will take years to change the mindset.

Especially, those C9s who loves Corollas and Camrys no matter what, and are willing to pay extra for it.  It's sad even some younger generations don't look at current offerings.  Caucasians are more open minded in this sense.  Maybe it's because Asians have been brought up with "Toyota means quality" and "Korean cars means crap" since born, so deep that it covers their eyes.

Are you kidding me?  Show me the reports please!

Genesis is good but the torque isn't crazy (2.0T).  You want cheap and fast, drive a Mazdaspeed3 or Cobolt SS!

Look at this: http://www.consumerreports.org/c ... bility-findings.htm

"The major Japanese brands and South Korea'sHyundai and Kia make plenty of reliable vehicles. Of the 48 models withtop reliability scores, 36 were Asian. Toyota accounted for 18; Honda, eight; Nissan, four; and Hyundai/Kia and Subaru, three each.

On the whole, Japanese vehicles areconsistently good. All Hondas and Acuras were average or above. Toyota, with its Lexus and Scion brands providing a broader product range, hadjust one vehicle that was below average in reliability, the Lexus GSAWD. "

Also this as another example: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/ ... ut-ford-closes-gap/

Hyundai beats Toyota?  No way!!!  Don't be fooled by the media.

233 Torque @ 2000 rpm is not crazy for a 4 cylinder start at $25000?
The Mazdaspeed 3 starts at $33000.

In Canada, Hyundai car sales is more than Nissan and Mazda.
In fact, Hyundai is catching up to Honda/Acura, and soon will sell more cars than Honda.

Don't use consumer report as they are very brand biased. Even they claim they shop independently, but they review everything that we buy, I won't trust a source that doesn't know deep enough. That goes the same with their computer/printer reviews, they don't know crap about reliability.

Go for Edmunds.com for review, you will see both the users and professional tests. Edmunds did the tests themselves and I find them more reputable than consumer report.

The Genesis is RWD,  MS3, GTI and Cobalt SS are FWD. You can't even get most of the torque out of the first 2 gears anyways.

Do you know 2011 Mustang V6 ($25k including PDI!!!) has 300hp and 280 torque (which also gets 30mpg on hwy)???  Genesis has crazy torque?  You must be kidding me.

Moreover, Hyundai "cheated" by slapping a turbo on it, so it's not your regular 4 banger.

Yes Hyundai out sold Nissan and Honda, so did GM, Ford, Chrysler.  What does that have to do with reliability?

This only shows the consumers are accepting Hyundai quality. These people cross shop between Japanese and Korean cars. The fact that they are shifting to Hyundai from Japanese brands shows you Hyundai's reliability has been catching up with and surpassing that of the Japanese.
GM, Ford, Chrysler are regarded as domestic cars so people in North America still buy them, not because they are more reliable.
