We can do our part by refusing to eat or buying shark's fin,
and to spread the idea;
eventually the market will shrink and the poacher would
decide that it is not worth their effort and switch to  do
something else

Hmm..... their cases are similar but different la. Shark is going extinct and the way shark fining is brutal; blue fin tuna is going extinct too but people eat the whole fish; goose liver is a cruel process but probably whole duck is being consumed and it's not going to extinct. Also, consider how much quantity and how often people eat these 3 things? Shark fin wins! And FYI, I stopped eating all these 3 things quite a while ago, just my personal preference.

You might be confused, CBC (Canada born Chinese) is quite different to HKBC (HK born Chinese). Most CBC don't like most of the chinese traditional and culture, but HKBC usually OK with it. The event is happening in HK not here, and most of the teenagers joining the event are HKBC not CBC. They don't blindly against all chinese traditional and culture, they simply think they prefer not eating sharks. (perhaps it's a nice excuse for them to pay less for 人情 too, kaka...)

Not that people don't think they way to produce goose liver is not brutal or cruel. It's because goose liver is not commonly used for western weddings nor any other type of banquet la. Even people want to start a campaign, not too many people would have that sense in common to support ah mah, the result won't be that efficient la.

This is very cruel indeed. I don't eat Foie Gras for a long long time already, probably even earlier than not eating shark fin!

Thanks for posting this chunsh! I hope you are posting it to help stopping Foie Gras, but not comparing which is more brutal. There are many of us know the story behind and do not eat Foie Gras, could you please stay within the topic or I don't mind discuss Foie Gras with you in another thread.
