Y'all would think I am crazy, but I would promote for the Independence of Hong Kong. The profit from governing the PRC is too great for individuals to handle, thus most of them fall into the traps of greed and get rich quick schemes. We need a localized decentralized government where our leader can have direct relationship with the citizens. Its time to stop blaming institutions but instead change our system through revolution. Protest will lead to riots, and riots will lead to civil war. Let chaos and lack of social order be the consequence.
What would you suggest? Keep on protesting and criticizing the government? Clearly its a failed process. Revolution will start sooner or later. Just waiting for who is courageous enough to be the vanguard. My bet is Long Hair or Yuk-Man, even them I think would be 5-10 years away.

Obviously its not the time, because institutions are eating up individuals through culture. Do you guys feel the whole world is psychotic? The kind of system we live in, is messed, money is power. What we need is an egalitarian society, not a capitalistic male-dominant egotistical society. Isn't it illogical? But many choose to accept our fate. Things will slow down though, and before we know it, we fall in to another Dark Ages. Glorious days have passed, the next generation will deal with the burden from retirement of Baby Boomers, Overpopulation, Gobal Climate change, Oil and food shortage, etc. etc. Keep in mind that the Western culture had the New World to turn to spark a Renaissance, what else will they turn to now? Antarctica? Arctic? Libya??

The main point is: too many people, too scare resources... What political system will work best in this situation? Neither capitalism, socialism, nor communism give you simple answers...
I can only say, the best system will secure the living dignity of being a civilized human.

It'd take too long for a full and detailed discussion on this topic, so I'll just make a couple of quick points:
1) There is simple no market for 港獨 in HK. People may hate Grandfather for one reason or another, but HK is not like Tibet or Xinjiang. For all practical purposes, that kind of sentiments just do not exist.
2) No matter how you cut it, HK's fate is intimately tied to that of China's. Until various aspects of China catches up to HK's standard, things in HK will just continue to get worse. It's simply a matter of HK and China coming to meet at some sort of equilibrium point. You'd hope that HK can keep its ground and not deteriorate too much, but the fact of the matter is, it's 700M people mixing with 1.3B people. The 700M can hope they'll inspire the 1.3B to catch up, but that 700M can't make the 1.3B catch up.
The protest culture in Hong Kong, and specifically the numerous civil disobedience practices started by Yuk Man, are taking root. I see that as a good sign because it is a civilized method that is effective in further highlighting how absurd and ridiculous the authorities are. As an increasingly larger portion of the general public becomes aware of this, authorities will have to change or the people will make them change.

Hong Kong is getting better and better, not worse.
With China as the hinterland, Hong Kong's status as a world financial center is getting stronger and stronger. Hong Kong has big financial surpluses, while most other western countries are near bankrupt.
The mad dog Wong protest culture is crap as its violates other people's rights, and is despised by most Hong Kong people.

As to your other BS, I suppose we saw the biggest 7.1 protest precisely because HK is getting better and better? I suppose your definition of "better and better" is reflected in all of HK's major officials' continually sagging approval rating, with Bowtie Tsang having his personal best and lowest approval rating ever?
