In the face of strong evidence, I think it would be appropriate to put the guy on death roll. There should also be a waiting period of a few years in case new evidence surfaces to overthrow the origi ...

you brought up 2 issues here...

1) Whether it is right to have capital punishment
2) What if there's evidence to prove that he was innocent after he is killed?  有殺錯無放過?

What if it's your son/daughter who was charged with murder but he/she was actually innocent?  How do you feel if he/she has to be put to death if there's no new evidence after a period of time?

If that happens to you or your family member, I don't think you can say "kill him/her" so easily, and you'll definitely say the system is flawed and unfair.

To kill the murderer is just to settle the angriness of the dead's family. But think about this, to get killed is more torture or to spend the rest of the life in jail is?
No matter how much time for the "waiting period", only assume the police is smart  enough to investigate the truth within that period of time. Or else, 1 year or 2 years ... etc "waiting period" is also meaningless.
Sentence to death is no longer exists in HK anyways, and that's the rule of the game nowadays.
