I highly recommend Garmin 250W (no text to speech) $199.00 or the 255W (with text to speech) $299.00
They both have lots of language & interface choices including Chinese interface & Cantonese & Mandarin voices.
If your mom is going to use it in Chinese mode, then save your money and buy the 250W because it cannot speak the street
name in Chinese mode anyway. Go and take a look in Bestbuy yourself and ask for a simulation & see for yourself. This is a
good time to buy because you get the latest 2009 maps.
I have both and I think the software and routing is better with Garmin and the screen is beautiful. Garmin is very easy to use
& you don't even need to read the manual. Make sure to get the "W" models with the wide 4.3 inch screen - much easier to see while
drving.

I won't recommend the Garmin 350 3.5" because it is a discontinued model & you might not get the 2009 maps. Also the new models has new & better screen interface and also calculate routes much faster. Please see my previous post a few minutes ago.

I like the 255w and 650, i am trying to decide which one to get.

Maybe you can call garmin to see if they can get you an udpated map for free if the model is an older one or discon'd. .

Just called garmin, they said customers can update to the latest map within 60 days of purchase, even the model is discontinued.

I use Tom Tom. They have user-friendly website for updating GPS info.

I am using TomTom One, and I added a 2GB card, and now I have TTS with the latest TomTom Core, which is better than the original TomTom One. Just kind of slow, but after it is loaded, it is fast.
