It's just a different perspective/taste.

For the same tokens Chinese travel/food magazines evaluate foreign restaurants outside of China as well.

Take it easy folks.

Different books (i.e. restaurant guides are books) are written for different audients. So I think the Michelin guide is a good reference for foreigners who come to HK and have similar expectation as some of the judges of this guide. (e.g. service, wine pairing...etc)
I am sure this is different from the perspective of local ppl in HK and there is nothing wrong with it.

actually, is more like regular local hk ppl can't afford to eat at any of those places

Gaddi's for example is average $4-5000 for 2, and most of the places range from $500+ per person before ordering wine.

Well... French Laundry's tasting menu is about US$250 (before tax/tips/drinks) per person...(prob $800 bill dinner for 2) So that's what the range of Michelin stars restaurants are. I think those in Tokyo may be more expansive.

Comeon, it looks like the rating is for richer people only, whether they are foreign visitors or local Hong Kong people.
Even the richer local Hong Kong people may not agree with this rating by foreigners, since local rich people also go to cheaper places that everyone goes.

Not all restaurants on the list are expensive, there are wonton noodle houses as well. Even though the wonton noodle is $30/bowl (HK$), it's still affordable than western/french cuisine.

i just thought fook lum moon would be more than one star....not that i've ever been there...

why don't you list out at least 10 restaurant from that list that you think its not worth going?

went back to HK for a few days last year, only went to 鏞記.

I don't think it's worth that 1 star.

I didn't say they are not worth going. But many leading Hong Kong culinary experts are saying the rating by foreigners may not be fair and does not accurately convey the quality of Chinese fine dinning and Hong Kong style cuisine.
