You can call my example is hypothetical, yet isn't this kind of issue happening in our daily lives realistically? In my POV, gambling is not appreciated by the Christianity God, to "call a prostitute ...

as I remember, Jesus did give some help to a prostitute (It was so long ago while I read that part form bible)

OK you claimed you read the Bible for 9 years so I assumed (I should've asked) you are a believer until now you explicitly say that you're not.  That makes more sense why you believe in some things and not others because for a believer he should not be believing in some things and at the same time not others.  Anyway, it clear now.  So I should not evaluate your comments from the POV of a Christian.  So your study was with a Catholic church?

About your friend, although he's trying his best to teach you about the Bible, at the same time have you found out the accuracy of his teaching (no disrepect), I mean do they come from the Bible or just his mind?  It's really the first time I hear that swearing is OK for a Christian.

SB, there are many things in the world that people can't think like that straight-forwardly. Some people read the bible just want to know more, doesn't mean  they already believe in; some Christians read Buddhism books just want to know more about others in order to protect and have a stronger mind to believe in their own religious, doesn't mean those Christians betray their God or want to change to believe in Buddhism.

This is also my very time to hear from a Catholic saying gambling is OK, plus use that money to donate to the church is also OK.
My understanding, gambling in any way is not appreciated by the Christianity God (including Catholics). But as I mentioned earlier before, depends on how you swear, swearing could not be a big problem. Swearing to people is not OK (or not appreciated), while swearing to a wall (for example) just to vent out one's anger, not actually hurting anyone, then it is OK (this "OK" doesn't mean God will be appreciated, yet God will understand your anger, since God didn't say we can't have anger feeling at all, just not to angry with something/someone for too long. Yet what is the standard of "too long" is also debatable.).

Ultraman:  "If playing MJ is kind of an entertainment, why it is not allowed to play inside any church? Doesn't it conflicting?"

A similar situation appears in 1Cor 8 of the Bible, where Paul addressed the early Christians whether eating food offered in other temples are acceptable.  He said eating such food itself isn't a problem, but if that act of eating the food causes others to bad impressions, then it is not a good thing and should be avoided. ["Therefore, if food causes my brother to fall, I will never again eat meat, so that I won't cause my brother to fall."  (1Cor 8:13)]

I may only be using MJ tiles to play mahjong solitaire (tile matching game), but if such act causes church visitors to have negative impressions (which probably would) , then I should not do it.

I totally understood this.  I had that impression not only because Nam claimed that reading the Bible for 9 years.  Nam also said that she (am I right?) went to church.  9 years is not a short time for someone who doesn't believe!  Again, it was a confusion on my part.

Thanks to give the exact quote from the bible. And this is what I keep pointing out, it's the concept behind rather than just to look at things from their outside. No matter you're doing obviously good or bad things, there is still a chance for other people to misunderstand you. It's your (a general "your") responsibility to explain to others. Playing MJ in church could be healthy or could give bad impression, helping a prostitute is the same. I only see most believers just try very hard to "avoid confusions" in an unwise and blinded way. However, doing which things would give bad impression and which not? Gambling? Playing MJ? Playing poker? Karaoke? Buying expensive branded names (such as LV, Benz..)? Being selfish? Being greedy? Not lending money to needed friends? And much much more... . Because every single believer could have different definition and standard and understanding, it is giving a negative impression to all others already.

Just because I studied bible does not equal that I'm a believer.
I thought it is clear and I am not a Christian myself.

If I am, I don't think I would be leavinv such comments.

And yes, I grew up in one of those so called brand name catholic school in HK and was there since kindergarden.
There was a very beautiful church by our school that we pray there every week

I am not sure if you ever attend one of those brand name school in HK.

I did not choose to study bible myself.
It was one of our classes and it was not my choice to go to church every week.  It is mandatory to go every week and mandatory to study bible.

Although some teacher FORCED us to pray more than once before we get off class.. but the sisters in school are very religion friendly that I tend to believe or listen to what they say.
