Hong Kong's tax rates are way lower than in other places like US, UK and Canada. They don't even charge GST/PST. With tax rates so low, how are they going to pump adequate money into public health care and welfare? No health care system is perfect. If we just pick some examples, we can pick the many mishaps that happened right here. Hong Kong should raise the tax rates if the people want better welfare.

It is true that HK has low tax rates, but how do you explain the HK SAR government's continual build up of their 2 reserve funds, accumulating to $2000 gazillion as I posted earlier in the thread?

They have the $$. It's just that they don't want to spend it. Not when times are good, and certainly not now when times are really bad. Not even when the current global economic crisis is the worst in 80+ years.
