....and some people might buy you gift instead of money! (Did you write "money only please" on your invitation card? haha)
It's not practical to book a banquet place in advance in order to fit into your potentially getting money gift budget. Worse case is the money you're going to get is only able to cover 1/2 or 1/3 of the total banquet fee, set up your max amount to book a place within your affordable budget. After all, it's just "a wedding day". You'll need more money for the married life afterwards.

I've been 2 wedding banquets at Shiang garden that charged  $2,000  and up per table, food only,  mandatory 15% tip in cash;  the other time was at Hyatt Hotel,
a Champagne reception, then they brought dishes from the Chinese restaurant  below,
Red wine and Remy VSOP on each table, the food wasn't exceptional but interestingly
served by caucasian waiters.

Sometimes the  elders give jewellery for gift, which you cannot re-sell, I received a whole bundle of  Gifts----  cookwares, tablewares etc, collecting dust in my attic for 25 years unopened!  The waiters tend to get you to pay the 15% tips in CASH, so be prepared.
And make sure your guests do not order red wine at your expenses, once my friend got charged $3,500 for the vintage red wine at Richmond Kirxn without knowlege of the price tag
