This is the AutoX event that I've went to a few times so far. Organized by BMWCCBC but does not limit you to BMW cars. Anybody can join. Hosted by BMWCCBC and Drivings Unlimited. You get about 50 runs a day for $140. Held also at BC Driving Center. This year there are 4 events and so far 2 already went by.
What exactly does Velocity 1 teach? I've been to performance driving classes, just want to know how much of the content might be of repeat.

When it was hold back at Boundary Bay, it used to be divided up into 3 sections: slalom, 180 + cross-over, and G-circle. These 3 are basic elements in any auto-x course. Each student will repeat practice on each sections with instructors sit in and give you pointers. At the beginning and the end of the day, these 3 sections will be joined up to make a normal auto-x course. When comparing your morning base time against you end-of-day time, you could know how much you improved.
And there is also a classroom section which teach you all the driving/racing basic.

So I guess this is more AutoX performance oriented, not so much as 'safety/collision avoidance' as some of the other offerings are out there? What I mean are those ones held by Drivings Unlimited (which BMWCCBC coordinates with) at BCDC. Tons of those Vision exercises, and they can't time your AutoX times (timing event are not covered by insurance where they claim that if named as collision avoidance courses with no timing, it retains your coverage at the venue)

I could teach you anytime free, on street? Haha... Actually my autoX history only covered FWD car with < 200hp, plus less then 10 events in my mighty Miata. Driving a FWD fast, you just need patient. Driving a RWD fast is different, and I'm far from any good.
If you have a high HP car that you never gun it, going to Velocity and have the big boy instructor driving your car is real eye opener in what your car could perform.

BiscottiGelato, you're right. After all, it is an introduction course to start AutoX-ing, although it could still benefit your daily driving, or just for fun.
is there a lot of shift-work required for autocrossing?....from looking at the video at the upper post...it seems that 2nd gear is used for almost the entire track (except the first few seconds when you get the car moving)
i mean...will it be pretty stupid for me to go autocross....given that i dont shift well...and i drive an auto currently (and of course i dont good tires for my car...)
