First, I also agree .. APPLE news is kind of junk .....
But .. as mukmuk said, not because it is Apple news, no matter CNN, FOX, CBC, whoever with some TRUE negative news to our dear mother country, "SOMEONE" will be pissed ..
My parents lived in HK 1956-1996,
worked really hard and paid tax,
only decided to move oversea before the turnover.

Honestly, I never read apple news so I cannot really comment on if it's a trashy newspaper or not; ...

It would be totally fine if they report bad things. But over time, it is clear that their way of reporting is actually China bashing.
You see, reporting bad things is actually good and is beneficial for the improvement of China. Some media are doing their responsibility of exposing the negative aspects of society.
But it is clear that Appledaily is on a mission of making false news to bash the Chinese.
IMO the whole Next media group is questionable. it's influences on the press media in the past 20 years was huge, and IMO, is negative big time. (i don't even want to talk about their influence on the social values).
by all means, it's main rival, oriental is about as bad.
