Well, it's just logical to protect your own self interest. Most of these securities personel took the job probably because they are okay with the work they do during the peaceful time for what they were offered as compensation. When it comes to violent protests/etc if given a choice, not hard to comprehend that they want to protect their self-interest over it. If you are given a choice to use your vacation on it or to duke it out with protestors and potentially risk your life (ability to care for your family/spend time with your kid for the next 20 years) on it, would you?
In a free market economy with a legal system people do what they are allowed to do under the law (maybe a little bit more than they are allowed sometimes...) to maximize their self-interest. Simplest way is just shove more money as incentive for people to work over G20, or like the police, annouce that they can't wing it well ahead of time. Sounds like fair game to me. |
