Be the first to Comment  2 Recommendation(s) VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Due to a struggling economy fewer people are moving to B.C. these days.

Bryan Yu, an economist with Central 1 Credit Union says we're still in the process of coming out of the recession.  "The overall unemployment rate in B.C. is relatively elevated at about 7.5 per cent and that's less of an incentive for movers from either other countries or else other provinces to come to B.C."

He adds Alberta's economy is picking up steam much quicker than ours.  "People are more hesitant to move provinces when they're uncertain about the economic conditions, because they're not really completely sure about what the economic environment is like."

That inter-provincial migration he's talking about fell 32 per cent here since April.  It also doesn't help that our unemployment rate is still sitting at 7.5 per cent.

When living cost is elevated to a level that's not balanced to income...
