VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A father from Surrey has now filed a discrimination suit against the Surrey School District. He spoke exclusively with News1130, and claims nothing was done to stop his daughter, who has Cerebral Palsy, from being tormented by other kids.
The father says his daughter has been subject to horrible name calling and even physical violence since 2008.
News1130 can't identify him, to protect his daughter's identity. "She was being called retarded, dumb, messy, weird legs, other names... they were calling her a lesbian."
He adds things eventually got worse. "What really made it hard for us was when (my daughter) said she wished she was dead. You know, 'nobody likes me, you guys don't care whether I live or die.'"
The father says he's made repeated attempts to curb the bullying with a school principal, and even with three girls he claims are the source of the problem.
Doug Strachan with the district tells The Province newspaper he can't comment on the lawsuit because of privacy concerns.
