VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Better have your Faresaver or transit pass readily available when using public transportation in the next little while.
TransLink suspects fare evasion is on the upswing, because recent revenues aren't as high as the transit authority was expecting. The latest analysis has TransLink coming in at about $2.7 million short of revenue targets.
TransLink's Ken Hardie says more evidence of fare evasion is coming from elsewhere.
"We see the social media postings from people who are bragging about ripping off the system, and what we're not seeing where we're used to seeing, is other people ganging up on them for doing that sort of thing," explains Hardie.
Most of the people News1130 spoke to heading into the City Hall Canada Line station had a monthly pass, or a U-Pass and don't feel most people get on for free.
