VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Finding the perfect holiday gift can be an agonizing experience. New research shows some of us are calling in sick to get it done.

eBay Canada's Holiday Counsellor Kimberly Moffit says about 20 per cent of people have skipped work or at least considered it after coming down with the "Holiday Shopping Flu."

She explains, "They think they have the flu, [that] they're kind of stressed and overwhelmed... that kind of thing. But really, what's happening is they're just distracted from work; they can't pay attention."

The average person needs to buy 14 presents. To make it easier, Moffit suggests you integrate shopping into your daily routine or consider going online, instead of spending time in a crowded mall.
