Be the first to Comment 0 Recommendation(s) NANAIMO (NEWS1130) - Nanaimo RCMP are recommending numerous charges against a Ladysmith man after what they call the largest seizure of child porn ever made in and around the area.
A 64-year-old man was arrested in mid-December after police found sexually explicit pornographic images at his home, office and even in his car.
Police seized ten computers, digital cameras, web cameras, CDs, and DVDs and at least 29 external hard drives and 25 other storage devices. They say they found an upwards of one million sexually explicit images of children in the process.
RCMP Constable Gary O'Brien says they don't believe any local children were involved. "We believe that most of the images are from various countries, but that has not been determined to an extent where we can't say there are no victims here. What we are confident in saying is that we don't believe anybody, any children, were in the homes or cars or businesses of this individual."
The suspect has since been released, but he is prohibited from using computers or going online. He is also not allowed to be anywhere near minors.
Police are recommending charges of possession, production and accessing child pornography. The man will appear in court next Tuesday.
