These 2 winter - home with no people still have to pay $ 300+ PER MONTH ( from September to February) - don't know why ?

If your house is built to a 15+yr or older construction code, chances are, you loose more heat from drafty, leaky walls, single-glaze (alu frame) windows and such more so than ever.

don't look at terasen gas as monopoly for since deregulation, they maintain their services for charging for transportation charge (pipelines, etc.) and their rate is market/floating rate and is competitive.

Also: living in GVRD: our natural gas rate is waay cheeper than, say, Van Isle for they have to pay 80% higher than us in GVRD mainly due to transportation costs.

Private companies lockdown rates are, over the past 3~4yrs, typically 50~80% higher than that of the market rate so you are essentially paying for an elevated rate that is not worthy of consideration.

You have to do your homework first before you post something like this.

ALSO: most of the technologies used in Asian countries is not applicable to Canada/North America, citing technological/implementation/cost/maintenance challenges and such.

For example: solar hot water heater on your roof: that's quite common in China but not applicable to Vancouver, citing the general lack of strong sunlight during winter time (we have overcast/cloudy days throughout winter time, etc.)

You should focus on improving the house/dwelling's thermal efficiency instead.
