A bad job may be worse than no job
Research out of Australia
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - You're better off not working than taking a job you hate, according to research out of Australia. Thousands of unemployed people were followed as they looked for work.
The ones who found meaningful, fulfilling jobs were the happiest. They felt calmer and less depressed, but only if the position was rewarding and manageable.
But the study shows people who took those last-resort, demoralizing positions were worse off even than people who couldn't find anything.
That goes against a huge body of research that people who are working are always happier than those who aren't.
The study also shows managers play the biggest role in how happy employees are, proving you may join a company, but you almost always quit your boss.
But sometime how do you know before you actually tried out this job?
It's Canada, there is EI...but in many other places, no work = no food....Often there is choice.
Jobless does not equal poor,
the pop can collector may make $50-$100 a day tax free while collecting
EI , Welfare etc.
And, according to Statistic Canada, Richmond is supposed to be one of
the poor community in Canada, why? people are not paying tax!!! Some CDN choose not to work.
