We probably drove slower in Vancouver. After spending 3 days driving around Seattle, I am still adjusting back to the slower driving condition in Van. Suddenly, I feel my Mazda3 handles so much better at higher speed than my gf's Tucson that we used for the Seattle trip.

So, I guess having more or less power in Van is not the question. How bad is the fuel economy is the biggest thing these days.

Test drove the 2012 GLI on a road course set up by the VW yesterday at their driving event.

I AM IMPRESSED.

This little car handles well! Stock suspension, stock tires, very good grip! No tire screaming while pulling high G. Well balanced.  When it sways, it sways in a very controlled manner with confidence.

Yes, there's a slight turbo lag, but DSG is just awesome. Throttle response good, very responsive to driver's input.

Solid chassis, huge trunk, but road noise is just so so...

Fun fun fun!  However, wife said she'd rather go on multiple vacations then buying a new car........ urrgh.........

I was there on Sunday too~!

Coming from less equipped street cars and after test driving the VW GTI and Passat. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that the DSG will up-shift automatically!! I know there are SW overrides the ECU but they should not be needed in the first place. Also, the ESC and TC cuts throttle during a skid/understeer and kicks in immediately when there are traction.

That maybe a lifesaver for real life road driving but when on a track, it is very difficult to predict what the car will do and I was almost skid out when I tried to correct the steering without power, then when I thought I made the correction, the power kicks in and I knocked a few cones.

Nonetheless, it's a very fast car but I prefer something more manual and less electronics. I want to drive the car not the car drives itself.
