Sick Leave

想問下加拿大有無法例保障員工每年享有幾多日的新薪病假? 有問題可以打去邊度問?

我呢間公司得5日 (唔知多定小),佢話我放多左病假, 話要扣錢

OK無問題,咪扣0羅, 但係比我封信係用白紙打印出黎,無用公司LETTERHEAD寫,內裡亦無講到公司名,發信人的職銜等等,淨係話要扣錢.  果位所謂的執行人話呢個係內部文件, 唔需要用公司信菚, 咁我話呢個係關於我係呢間公司工作上的事,將來我要報稅(當然吹水)有咩証據係呢間公司扣我錢? 咁我的confirmation letter / job offer letter都係公司內部文件, 咁又用公司信紙?!

我咁問其實係諗緊佢地係咪無權扣或者做緊D灰色地帶會"賴野"的野.

P.S. 題外話: 因為我成日放工後幫公司做到半夜/週六又幫佢做, 佢地話打算唔扣錢(話將多左的帶落下年), 但係話我夾埋同事係大廳問關於病假/事假的野, 無得唔扣, 唔係其他人覺得唔公平喎! 佢扣唔扣根本無人知! 擺明玩野! 豬UP!   

P.S.S  事假限定每年放5日, 以為有薪, 原來係無, 咁點解要限定放5日?! 係咪放多過5日要掉轉頭俾番錢公司? 痴線!

Is an employer required to pay for sick leave?
There is no requirement for an employer to give an employee paid sick leave. However, if sick leave is paid or allowed, it may not be deducted at a later date from any other entitlement to a paid holiday, vacation pay, or other wages.

My company doesn't have paid sick leave officially.  Unofficially, if I'm sick for a day, I just call in sick to my manager and this didn't get entered into payroll.

thanks B2L2.  Actually, I dont mind they deduct the salary if i really breached company policy.  I just hate the way they handled issues.  It seems the black-and-white company policy is a "dummy", if you are one of their group or work as a slave or ever speak up for getting a truth, everythings can be discussed or "one-eye-open-one-eye-close"!

I hope you are not working in an organization owned by Chinese.  My working experience while working in a Chinese (actually from HK) owned company 12 years ago was terrible.  They believed "No policy is good policy".  What you done extra, they took it for granted. Working from 8am to 6pm is their "official no OT hours".  If I need to take few hours off for medical appointment, they gave me long faces....

unfortunately, the co. is run by hongkongese.  it's 1st time for me working in a chinese firm.  yes, no appreciation, no compliment even if you done extra. now, i will leave office sharp, turn my cell off and don't check/reply email after work.   it makes me feel so bad though

We have timesheet program to keep track of our sick or vacation days taken during the year. So no argument. And policy also says 5 sick days per year.
Does your company use this kind of timesheet program? If you you have the record of your working day/hour.

But seeing the way they handle your sick day, I would start looking for new jobs.
