Sometimes, I receive scam mails telling me that I have won their grand prize...blah blah blah...and asked me to send them money to receive my priz..blah blah blah
I believe no one should fall into this trap since the news has been talking about this for a long time already.

Today, I got another one from "The Reader's Digest Association" about a Sweep Stake.

I am bored so I read through it to try to find the scam indicators.

As I read through it, I can't find the "send-money-to-us-to-receive-your-prize" line. I only need to return a mail which I will receive later to enter the draw. Whoever entered the draw will be invited to stay in a Luxurious hotel in Montreal. they will pay for everything for up to 3 people.

I thought, "hmm...is this a new trick?"

I looked up the The Reader's Digest Association website and there is a Sweep Stake going on. I even saw the picture of the person who is sending me this mail. There are also pictures of him with the winners of the last few Sweep Stake.

it's reader's digest.

My sister won small price 2 years ago, but I remembered she didn't send any money.... she's regular subscriber... she received a passport to collect stickers.....

if you search online at other deal saving forums...u will discover that it is indeed REAL and they really do give out money to people

dunno the odds of winning but hey, it's free for subscribers and there's no money to enter, so why not?

is anyone subscribing to the Reader's Digest? is it easy to unsubscribe? how do you pay for the issue they sent you?

I subscribe to Reader's Digest...but I've never tried unsubscribing. I would think it's hard to unsubscribe from ANY magazine...for the other magazines I had tried to unsubscribe from, they usually send me at least 2 more issues after I've called/emailed/sent in my cancellation form. For example, if I cancel in September, the last issue they will send me (and charge as well) is November. They always say it takes them 2 months to update their system and also they have already printed my mailing label onto the upcoming issue so they cannot cancel it the same month.
