the easier way to explain this is...
the moon is red mainly due to the amount of dust ( or aerosol / particles suspended in the air) in the atmosphere of the Earth. When the moon is low (ie the light from the sun needs to pass the thru the Earth's atmosphere to hit the surface of the moon), the red color is picked up. remember that light can be spited into spectrum of colors? red being on one end is the reason why the color green wont be picked up, since green is in the middle of the spectrum. |
