VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Canada celebrates its 142nd birthday tomorrow - where are you going to party? News1130 is sponsoring Western Canada's largest July 1st celebration in Surrey. Expect 100,000 people, fireworks and shows by 54-40 and Bif Naked. In Vancouver, there will be festivities and fireworks at Canada Place and, new this year, an evening parade! The 1st Annual Canada Day Parade takes place at 7:00 p.m. The parade starts at Georgia & Broughton, moving to Thurlow, then onto West Pender St. where it ends.
Due to those celebrations West Cordova from Howe to Burrard will be closed between 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2. As well, Canada Place from Burrard to West Cordova will be closed from 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2.
Granville Island also hosts celebrations, as does North Vancouver, Langley and Steveston.
