i've been to this place a couple times for lunch with coworkers, always loved their food.....great variety, well-priced...
however, the last time we were there, i noticed that there was NO AIR CONDITIONING!! thank goodness that was only mid-july so it really wasn't all that hot...
I'm sure they didn't use dirty oil for the fry fish dish that day, otherwise, they can't create the golden color. But who knows, maybe they switch their oil just that day.
For those who really like 炸銀C卷, the one at Edmond st (their old location) is actually better.
Thanks for the review. I love shanghai food, but always leery about the name "TASTY village"

i know what you mean. I don't like the name either, sounds so Westernized. I avoided tryin them out until I found out for sure they are the place that I went frequently and just moved and changed their English name. I will continue be a regular customer and take my friends and families there often. I just hope that they will always be consistant with their quality and service.
