Does anyone know how to use "UTEE" and "perfect pearl"?
Apparently this is what they use to create glass effect on paper!

I learned about this from this website:
http://pezadoodle.wordpress.com/

Scroll down a bit and you'll see what she did to the snow flakes!
the site itself is supposed to be a tutorial.. but i have no clue what she did after reading =_=

That's kinda a very advance technique....
same to u, I don't quite understand what she's talking about.

I googled it, I think it's one of Tim Holtz's products

Maybe this explains more clearly:

I've these for sale at Michaels, seems like it's gonna cause quite a mess though.

isn't it's basically you are doing layers of layers in order to create that effect?

Perfect pearl is some shimmering powder. You can add a bit of perfect pearl powder to a small spray bottle, add water, then you get shimmering spray. You can find perfect pearl in Michaels as well....they are not cheap. But they claim that it reacts with water so it will stick on paper. Other shimmering powder may not stick.
UTEE I haven't used it before, but it's like embossing powder (just thicker). I think the easier way is to first to colour the snowflake, then spray with perfect pearl. When it's dry, ink with  veramark ink pad (veramark is just some sticky ink pad so your embossing powder can stick on the image). Then put on UTEE, heat it. Spray with more perfect pearl if not shimmering enough.
I wouldn't want to try to dye the UTEE with alcohol ink....it just sounds too dangerous (may catch fire if heating while not dry enough)...

I think the glossy accent from above picture will do the same job. And save the mess for heating. But I guess it's not as economical as the UTEE powder... (and u have to wait for it to get dry)

Can you use shimmer nail polish? You can add shine w/o all the products and much cheaper, right? (I'd think it depends on the materials you work with though...

I think the shimmering effect from nail polish is not as intense as the perfect pearl...Actually...for $16 (after 40% off at Michaels), can use long time...so maybe it's not TOO expensive...

fibbi, with the 50% off, even better =P

wah.. Thanks for all the suggestions ah..!  My shopping list for Michael's just gotten longer!! LOL!!! They have a one day sale tomorrow ah (Friday)! Get $10 off with $40 purchase.. or $20 off $70 purchase.. etc.. it says on the coupon in BIG RED FONTS "BUY MORE & SAVE"- so self-contradicting!
I can't believe that I can be so crazy.. going to M's every week (though only buy one thing per visit) and it seems that I can never have enough tools!!

*pearl powder~ pearl powder~* drooling*  XD

I've seen some Japanese tutorials taught that as well.  If you want that glossy and bumpy look, you can cover your image with Super Glue (AA Glue). And then mix a bit of sparkle in it.

I went there just tonight, hoping to get some pearl powder or glitter powders... but... they are already on sale... I can't use my 50% off.... instead, I bought something else.. so bad =(

Strawberry mui mui: use AA Glue will be as smooth + glossy ma? if that's the case.. it might be easier than using UTEE? I'm worried that heat gun won't melt UTEE.. then I'll have to buy the "melting pot"!
