Personally using black as main colour is outside of my comfort zone. So I rarely buy black card stock.

mcjohnjohn - I thought the snowflakes would come out frosty white.  Cuz I was stamped with that Versamark Dazzle Frost pad.  It came out transparent after I heated with the gun and clear embossing powder.

fibbi - I had a stack of them that was left over.  I was using them for packaging my craft sale things. I didn't want to waste it.

I like the black a lot actually... stylish and "non-standard". Good stuff!

I just think that green may not be a good pairing of black. If you go with red the overall colour scheme will be more eye-pleasent, and will match with the ribbon too! Just my two cents, it's good stuff.

作者: Rainy    時間: 2009-12-3 13:19

Black is actually okie... it would be even better if the snowflakes (the background) stand out more. ie. use some heat embossing powder with glitters =) Overall, I really like the card. However, I would only give this card to non-asian people....

I think u're talking about the Stampin' UP's Heat and Stick embossing powder.
I'm interested in that embossing powder as well.
That's why I'm planning to order it from Claichan.  Cuz she's now a SU demonstrator.
So it's easier for us to order from her.

I am so sorry... still a lil confuse =.=

I was just wondering is the VersaMark Dazzle watermark stamp pad acts like a glue, therefore the Clear Transparent Embossing Powder will stick on it?

Then whats the different if u use Stampin' UP's Heat and Stick embossing powder VS the  Clear Transparent Embossing Powder ???

btw ... forget to tell you...
HAHA...

Ur card ho pretty, I like it =)
作者: fibbi    時間: 2010-1-25 00:46

VeraMark doesn't really act like a glue...you can put embossing powder on so that the image is raised. But you can't really put glitter or flock powder on.

I have something called Stamp N Bond (from Stampendous). It is "adhesive powder". So you can use Veramark, then sprinkle this powder on, heat set it with heat gun, then put glitter or flock powder on and it's like glue.

Thank you IcySugar!
For using regular embossing powders, you don't actually need to use the VersaMark Dazzle watermark inkpad.  You can use any brands PIGMENT inkpads.  Usually PIGMENTED ones are not easily dried, they are wet for awhile after you stamp an image.  We use VersaMark is because it's stickier and it's clear.  I don't use it on all cards.  Just once in a while.

For the embossing powder itself, there are different colours.  Not just Clear ones.  I use clear ones is because I have lots of different colour inkpads and I didn't want to spend many money to buy each powders.  But basically, I have White, Clear, Clear with Glitter, Silver, and Gold embossing powder.  I might invest more later if I needed it.

For the Stampin' Up Heat & Stick embossing powder, it's 2 kinds of things.  Although it's a clear embossing powder, it's a really sticky powder.  You have to spread regular glitters after you heated your image with the H&S powder.  And after you spread the glitters, you have to heat to set it.  For more info, you can take a look at this:

Using this powder, it just make the image more glittery!

HaHa ... thank so much for the explaining, you girls =)
HaHa I finalli went to Michael =) w/ my 50% coupons xP

I can't realli find all my stamp from so many years ago lol...
And I dun wanna 2 spell $$... n buy random stamps
that I dun even know what i m gonna do with them...

derefor instead of the ink pad...
I decided to buy the VersaMarker watermarker pen xP

For embossing powder,
I dunno which brand was good, n I guess the stamp n stuff was the only brand...
so I hav no choice lol...
I bought the detail clear embossing powder as a starter xP

lastly, when i ask abt the pen,
The ppl work dere tell mi that i hav to buy a gun...
I was thinking do I hav 2 ... ?!?!?!

HaHa...Well I only printed 2, 50% coupons, =.=
N the gun was quite expensive T.T $40.00
N it was out of expect 2...
So I didn't buy it... >.>
N no 1 mention abt I needed a heat gun... hahahahaha... =.=
I thought the hair dryer would work =.=
but I guess it didn't work... haha...
作者: Rainy    時間: 2010-2-6 23:23

Hair dryer doesn't work. I tried mines.... not working well. I ended up buyign the heat gun in the States and it's much cheaper down there. I got it at 14.99 with the 40% off. I like it and I got the M.S. brand. works well with me. =)
作者: IcySugar    時間: 2010-2-6 23:35

HAHA... I dig out a mastercraft heat gun from my daddy's 工具房 xP
Wakaka... n it works perfectly i think >.> ... HAHAHA...
作者: 草莓妹妹    時間: 2010-2-7 01:09

Otherthan using a heatgun, you can also use a traveller size iron.  U just need to flat the handle part down and then place an aluminum foil on top of the iron and then place ur card on top.  It will for sure melt the embossing powder.  (Cuz that was how I'm Impressed ppl taught me when I was in grade 5.  Cuz at that time they had those cardmaking workshops in our school.)
作者: 車人    時間: 2010-2-7 20:29

Interesting..! That's what I've been doing -was too cheap to buy the heat gun. Putting aluminum foil on top is a good idea.. protects the flat iron..  Might need to keep moving the card too when trying to melt the powder, cuz sometimes I have no patience, turn ceramic iron on high + put card on the same spot for say ~10sec .. that part of the card turned "wavy"..

Re IcySugar: Thanks! I luv card 1 too. Maybe it's because recently I really like Penny Black's stamp collections.  I think they are really cute.  They have lots of cute animal stamps.  For instance, mice, Teddy bear, hedgehogs, bunnies, etc.  By the way, I think their bear collections looks a little bit like Forever Friend.  Oh, you should really go check out some Martha Stewarts' new edge punches.  They are very pretty and looks vintage.  But only get them when you have the 50% coupon though.  Otherwise, it'll be too expensive to invest. Haha^^

Re Fibbi: Thank you! Yes, I am also a HeroArts fan.  Recently, I love their Clings.  Cuz it's really easy to use.  And the main thing is it's easy to clean too.

Re 車人:  Thanks~  It sure was a hard decision of using black and white for a thank you card.  Somethings I'll think that black and white is only for sympathy kind of style.

Re Rainy:  Sure, I'll post a picture of the markers in my other scrapbooking/card making supplies Haul thread.  There are 2 kinds of markers that I bought from DAISO.

Re IcySugar:  For the Penny Black stamps, I got them from Scrapbooking Warehouse and not Michaels.  And for the 50% coupon that I was talking about is to use it on MS's edge punches.  For the markers, I'll post a pic later in my other thread.  For their quality, of course it won't be as great like the copic markers.  But the result is kind of like the same.  For the blending marker you're talking about, are you talking about the dove blender pen and the water blending brush?  Both of them are clear colour.  You'll either use watercolour pencil crayon, watercolour paint, or inkpads with the blender pen or brush to colour an image.  Regarding about my experience,  I've started card making with my mom when I was in Grade 3-4.  But I haven't been making them since I've started High School till last year when I saw Fibbi and Rainy's creations.  They both sure did inspired me making cards again. hehe^^
