標題: [其他飲食] Say No to a Meal Tax – No HST! [打印本頁]

作者: ACC-HE    時間: 2009-12-9 11:56     標題: Say No to a Meal Tax – No HST!

f you don’t speak out against the new meal tax you’ll soon be paying 12% on your bill for every bite you eat in or take out from restaurants. That’s an additional 7% tax on top of the 5% you already pay for food served at restaurants and coffee shops. Everything from morning coffee to lunch at the University or pizza with the kids. Gulp! Thousands of restaurant jobs could go down the drain as well. So sign the petition and get involved.

Both Conservatives and Liberals support it, so what can we do, vote NDP next time? Do you want BC to be alone in Canada and miss out all benefits(money) from Ottawa?

I support we all go home and eat dinner together with our family .

As crappy a place as Vancouver might be, it's still leagues ahead of Seattle in terms of standard and quality of living.

Liberal put up information on website explaining why HST will bring the “benefits” as Liberal claims. However, I couldn't find any concrete explanation other than listing out the benefits HST brings.

I try to understand why HST will bring those benefits but Liberal does not answer it.
作者: rockypath    時間: 2009-12-10 10:50

Up to now, I can only understand and accept one possible benefit that HST brings which is elimationation of tax on tax.

Unnder current tax system, goods will be taxed for PST multiple time on PST which already paid as the good flow through the supply chain. However, whether the suppliers will lower the sales price after HST implemented, we still have wait to see. It is possible that those supplier won't lower the price and just take the extra profit margin for granted.

librial sux!!

don't vote to libral anymory people.!!!!!

although other parties sux
but at least conservative not charging carbon tax and HST
作者: fibbi    時間: 2009-12-10 17:06

As I understand HST is good for big cooperation? Since they can get it back from Gov't?
I'm ok as  long as the % stays where it was before.
But I guess which ever party in power...will be in favour of HST...since that way the provincial can get $$$$$ from Federal.
作者: Prelude    時間: 2009-12-10 17:08

From one of the news clip I watched, the leader of the other party were standing on the street to say Liberal sucks for bringing in HST.  Later, she was asked what she would do if it was left to her in charge, then she couldn't answer until 5 seconds later and said "I would still bring in the HST".   I was like "WTF? lol"

To be honest, HST is good idea, but that totally depends on how they execute it.  Given Liberal's record and all the under table money action, I am pretty sure they will screw it up and we suffer.

Also, this is Canada, guys.  It has sticky price culture, no one will reduce the price because of the cost of PST is reduced.   My suppliers have always increase price on ANY event, just as both stronger Cad and weaker Cad.  They always have excuse to increase price.   So, I doubt HST will actually benefit anyone other than our retarded greedy government executives.

if they start charging HST I will still eat out!!!

but I will pay less on tips......thats for sure!!!

sucks to be a waiter or waitress !!!!

plus those western place they charge 15% on your bill if you have party of 8 or more.....
that would mean you are paying 12% HST plus 15% tips that like 27% if you dine out with 8 or more friends!!!!

next time we should just tell the resturant we have 4 people here and 4 people there but can you put us close together....so we can still talk!!!!

hahahaha

HST was introduced by federal Conservatives and supported by federal Liberal. Provincial Liberals are the ones executing it because of the money incentive that comes with it.

HST has been passed in the paliment and will be very difficult to reverse now.

That's exactly why the economy will suffer.

On the other hand, Asian restaurants will make more from HST, because they will able to pocket 12% instead of 5%.
