so as the title have said, i have pretty severe breakout problems on my forehead and my cheeks, i have went to see my family doctor and she suggested me to take birth control pills to balance out my hormones... i personally don't really wanna try it cuz i heard there's quite a lot side effects such as weight gaining, mood swings etc. I have tried chinese doctor but it only works a period of time and i am putting on some medicine that my family doctor gave me but it wasn't really working as well.

Any sis can give me more advices? i am really struggling right now >< Thanks so much!

Yeah .. birth control pill will help .. but ..  will hv side effect too .. ( may be good side effect, such as bigger breast )

If forehead, I guess shorter hair will help, and for cheeks, just do more shaving....

I always have breakout problem on my forehead too .. as many years ago, my hair was long ...  then until few year ago, when short hair was the trend, I got short hair .. and my forehead problem was gone ... untill last2-3 yr, longer hair again, and my breakout problem is back ..  ( even 3X yr old ..  damn )

CP are you suggesting a girl to shave her cheek or a guy taking birth control pill? I hope the OP won't take your words seriously lol

CP wanted to tell us he had serious breakout before and he took birth control pills and thus he has big breast now!

Funny how us guys are responding to this instead of the girls~

One thing you might want to really watch is your diet. Yes, it sounds simple, but our body is the result of what we eat. When I eat chips and fries and stuff, my face automatically gets really oily, and pimples start coming out. Cut the chips out, and I go back to normal.

Suggestions:

- don't eat out
- prepare your meals to be plain and simple -- minimal amount of condiments, spices, etc.
- as little salt and cooking oil as possible -- steamed over stir-fried, baked / roasted over deep-fried
- eat more veggies and fruits
- drink more water and less junk fluids (pop, beer, ready-made juices etc.)

good side effect, such as bigger breast  - it only works for guy la.
side effects of the new generation birth control pills are so min la.
for long term, you need to find out what cause your hormones imbalance.  what did your chinese doctor said ar?  diet, stress, smoking. not enough sleep or ....
short term, you can do laser and/or facial treatment, or just simple change your pillow case more often & don't let your hair cover the forehead.

tofu -- i guess it's stress and sleep late... i didn't really get what the chinese doctor said... something abt lung, some abt the heart... i don't know.. =p

chinese doctor is more correct your problem and birth control pills are more control your problem.
if you are going to see the chinese doctor again, you should either record/write down what he said and ask someone to explain it to you.
if you know it is related to stress and lack of sleep, you should correct these problems la

You don't have to completely adopt my diet suggestions ge, but a lot of them are actually really easy to incorporate into your eating habits / patterns.

breakfast:
- plain bread, non-sweetened cereal (+ milk, obvious), banana, yogurt (store bought)

lunch
- packed sandwich (bread + deli + cheese, with NO sauce), whole apple

snacks:
- simple granola bar, plain biscuits, crackers

dinner:
- steamed rice (made by rice cooker), steamed/broiled veggies, 蒸肉餅, 蒸水蛋, 蒸魚滑撈豆腐

And make sure you eat lots of fruits.

All of these are really quite simple and fast ga. Some of the suggestions are a little bland in taste, but some are quite tasty too.

Magsss, if you're a teenager, you are more prone to have acne but adults have acne, too.

Definitely taking birth control pill can help. I understand that there're birth control bills that have lower dosage of hormones and be taken to lessen PMS symptoms. However, I'm surprised that your family doctor does not offer other remedies. For example, my family doc prescribes some antibiotics which controls inflammation (which cause pimples), in addition to some prescription lotion to put on the skin.

For non-prescription remedies, I've used ProActiv. It helps to clear the skin (as promised). I stopped using it because it blocks the pores (so I ended up having white heads). I also tried the clinique lines which doesn't really help.

I find that products that contain Salicylic Acid or Glycolic Acid work better those that contain benzoyl peroxide, which dries out my skin. I like Neostrata (e.g. http://www.neostrata.com/product ... .do?sortby=ourPicks) which can be found in major drugstores. Try using a lotion that contains Salicylic Acid. I find that helps keep my face clear.
