where can I buy it? I love water chestnut cake..the one you eat in chinese year..

one of my customer used to make me one every chinese new year, but she goes to hk for vacations this year..

I personally really like 馬蹄糕 from parker place food court's vegetarian place
but they don't always make it, you have to ask

other wise, I think those at empire supermarket is not bad either

First, the waterchestnut flour must be genuine, there are some fake ones,
Second, cook the batter until it is thickened before steaming it, this step would stablize it and prevent breaking down and watery.
Or you can add a little wheat starch (Tang flour)

I don't like the one just put dried water chestnut's powder in..

I like a lot of water chestnut meat inside the cake

That would be the batter alone, you would need  to add a lot of diced water chestnuts into the batter.
Superstore have 1 Kg  pack fresh water chestnuts for $1.99 .
Labour cost, that is why some bakeries put frozen corns into water chestnut cake  to save labour.
The water chestnut have to be fresh, The canned one taste terrible
