I think you got it wrong.
If you want to enjoy the game, just do it in your backyard. Why go to the Olympics?
Olympics is one business. And this business is about winning medals.

Well, your Canadian 阿爺 here, also want to "own the podium". Therefore, nearly $200 million was invested into the athletes. But now they concede that they cannot beat the US to "own the podium".
peter236 發表於 2010/2/25 23:58
If you see Olympics is ONLY about national pride, you may have missed a whole lot.
Winning medals to satisfy superficial national pride is the ONLY goal of olympics.
As peter236 said, otherwise, why would you invest millions of dollars on SOMEBODY else for their "enjoyment"?
快樂牛郎 發表於 2010-2-26 00:06
"I don't focus on my personal medal count," she told reporters. "I don't focus on the team's medal count. I look at the human performance... I think that these Olympics, and how excited Canadians are right now about being Canadian and celebrating excellence, I think that shows that there is some value to sport and I don't think that value lies in an overall medal count."
Basically they have no obligation to entertain you. If you don't like to see them play, switch to another channel.
