食皇帝蟹首先就係要了解呃稱問題...有D酒樓起每磅單價就平D...但係呃稱相對又多D..呃二至三磅唔小得.
有D酒樓起每磅單價就高D..比起平起價酒樓會多3至4元一磅...但呃稱就小D.

or they switch the other crab ....... when they show u the alive crab, it looks good w/ lot of meat.. but after it is cooked...... no meat, less meat

我覺得怡園實在做得好好.佢本身啲皇帝蟹就好大隻,再加上做法出色,佢一蟹三食其中嘅秘製蟹身,辣辣地好特別.佢唔係做平價嗰style,$13.88/lb但你覺得值得,知自己食咗啲乜落肚,最怕有啲餐館賣到鬼咁平但貨不對辦,食到成肚火兼掃興!!

Especially EMPIRE in alexander road ,呃5至6磅唔小得. and they chop lots of king crab before dinner time,cause they bought the dead king crab in less money,and the service is very bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!賣到鬼咁平但貨不對辦,食到成肚火兼掃興!!Agree.

went to " Po King" in Burnaby (Kingsway and Imperial near Metrotown Mazda)
$8.80/lb, add $25 for 3 style
condition: need to order 2 dishes at reg price (range from $11.80 - $14.80)
we ordered a 13.25lb king crab (most of their crab are >10lb)
leg: steam with "fa diu" (chinese liquor) egg white
body: pepper salt
shell: baked rice

Comment:
the portion seems reasonable, maybe my parents know the boss, so they didn't cheat that much
the baked rice is VERY big, the plate is full with rice

5 of us .. total comes to $195 with taxes and tips
pack half of the baked rice, and 1 full dish home.

seems not bad, will go again
close to my house anyways

I went to spicy court on cambie and 41st.. we bought our own alaska king crab which's $9.99 / lb from chinatown last tuesday.. and give it  to them to cook for us.. and they charge us $5 / lb of the crab.. we bought 3 crabs for 3 tables.. about 11 lbs per crab..

they made us: steamed crab legs with garlic and butter sauce; deep fried crab with salt and pepper, baked crab meat, scallops with curry rice in crab's shell; stired fried crab meat, bean sprout with yee mein;

we also ordered:

cold platter with jelly fish, mixed mushroom bean curd wrap, sliced ham,  sliced pork feet, honey garlic ribs;

braised bean curd with 豆笛;

braised chicken with rose wine sause;

stired fried fresh rock cod , scallops with snow peas;

chicken, pork meat and 螺 soup;

red bean dessert.

We reserved 3 tables (36 people),

we need to pay $32 per person included tips, crab and tax.

baked crab meat with squid, scallops, dried scallops and chinese mushroom po kong rice on crab shell

deep fried crab meat with chilli pepper and some spice

stired fried 豆笛 with garlic sauce

steamed chicken in wooden barrel

etc..

I had one at "long king hin" last night (the one on the 2nd floor of the mall where pearl castle is)

they sell the crab not per pound, but they put a different price on each crab.  It costs more if the crab is bigger.  I think my family had a 11 or 12 lb crab which cost us $168.

Leg:  garlic steamed
Body:  pan fried with premium soy sauce
we then use the "water" from steaming the crab leg to mix with noodle.

It tastes very good.  Especially, how they cook the body, I think it is the best king crab body I have ever eaten!

上個星期去咗Richmond鴻星,$13.8/lb,三食加$10,蒜茸蒸蟹腳,避風塘炒蟹身加$5,焗飯加$16.8...味道一般啦!蒜茸蒸差少少,用得好少蒜茸...service就幾好....

昨天去名都吃

看了是8磅

可是吃到的時候感覺只有六磅

蒜蓉蒸
蟹腳經過蒸後感覺萎縮很嚴重.....



跟以前我在新瑞華吃到的 蟹腳飽滿感不同



本週去試試鴻星好了richmond的似乎板上風評不錯

名都不會再去吃了



接下來應該是本週 鴻星Richmond
下周新瑞華巴


皇帝蟹品質還是很重要!!!

by the way, not every crab is 118, they have different price depending on how big the crab is, but I think they don't 呃秤

Tried Bing Sing on Renfrew and No. 2 (vancouver)... 10lb under $14/lb.. ok taste, but it's like 9lb after it's cooked.

my friend told me 粥麵軒 is not bad
$10.99/lb, add $9 for 3 styles
most crab are 9-13lb
portion seems reasonable
i will go try next week

I had tried "good eat  restaurant on leslie road" it's $9.99 / lb on last friday.

we had 12 lbs one.. look 12 lbs.. and gave us 12 lbs.. didn't  have any extra charge..

we served 2 big dishes with steamed crab legs with garlic sauce, another 2 big dishes crab legs steamed with ginger and green onion ( taste so fresh and sweet)

stired fried noodles with crab meat

only steamed crab legs and crab meat noodles charged us $120 .. we also ordered pan fried geoduck with veggies, stired fried shrimp with veggies, sweet and sour pork ('cuz I went with few cbc ), braised short ribs, pork liver and ribs in hot pot, stired fried chicken, baked pudding, stired fried veggie with scallops, pop and beer..

it's come to $406 + tips.. for 11 people.. we paid $43 per person.. with good services.. they gave us a room ..

dun go to red star in richmond...so cheat price unless u r a regular in there..there are just couple crabs swimming in the tank and when they bring it out...they will tell the non regular that the crab is 8.5 lbs pretty much  ( well for the night we went..coz the other tables around us were eating crabs too...and there were some tables further down that we heard the manager address the customer by name with bigger crabs)..after we saw the crab..5 minutes later..we got the steamed legs served (so fast lor)

其實皇帝蟹个蓋係冇膏,只係有薄薄一層肉.食完皇帝蟹如果有一個做得好嘅飯跟尾,就確係幾好.

新瑞華: It's good...9lb really looks like 8-9 lb...
帝苑: it's a set menu for 10... ok la... for $300/table, it's not bad la..but don't expect 8lb..it's just different pieces here and there....coz from the plate size it should be at least 7-8lb..but then with 7-8lb crab...some legs shouldn't be so thin... anyway... as a whole..it's not bad (3 dishes for the crab: garlic steam, pepper/salt deep fry and rice)
Friend's house: that's the best...for sure no cheating on weight!   (2 dishes, garlic steam and pepper/salt deep fry)

my experience to 名都 compare to  新瑞華

我覺得被騙

新瑞華還是質量比較好

當初應該較經理名都過來罵才對
!!!我很清楚有時候秤的時候說8磅 但是吃到的時候很明顯縮水非常多
!!!我知道8磅吃起來是怎樣滋味!!!!!有時候真的很想抓經理來發飆

有冇人敢看到烹調後的皇帝蟹跟自己之前看的不同,直接較經理來換掉的????

鴻星原本今天要去 可是老友的討論有好有壞不知道該不該去


我想請問幾個問題:

1.通常在烹調前 經理會拿皇帝蟹給你看   都是皇帝蟹反面 還是正面???  肚朝上 還是朝下???
2.我認為大多餐廳都 亂秤磅!!! 可否請他們把皇帝蟹的頭殼拔掉 再重秤??
   因為我總覺得頭裡面會裝很多水.... i dont want to pay money just for those water stock in head........
anyone agree with me ???

wow...why not ask the restaurant to remove the shells before weighing them? or why stop there, weigh it after it is full cooked and pay by the gram?

有D餐館買$8.99per lbs.有D餐館賣15.99per lbs.呃嘅比例一定成正比.唔係点做咁平?我自己經驗,10lbs以上嘅蟹質量比較有保証.當然越大隻越好.我自己好少會去賣平蟹嘅餐館,相對食到嘅蟹質量都幾好.

some have more solid meat than others, so it is hard to tell just by its look.  we have two at home in a row, the 2nd one looks much bigger than the 1st one, but they are less than 1/2lb difference.  as爬地熊said, 有D餐館買$8.99per lbs.有D餐館賣15.99per lbs.  $8.99 is even cheaper then the wholesale price, of course they will cheat on the price la, you believe they will loss money on it ma.  choose the one that make it tasty, price/lb is not really matter, end up the same

黃帝蟹加晒價lu~~~ 周圍都要$18.8/ lb~

今晚去左食怡園~~ 唔知點解...D野食出得好慢 =( 由下單到上第一碟既蒜蓉蟹腳等左30分鐘.... 再過多20分鐘先上另一款及其它小菜....之後剩番個蟹殼鋦飯....依個飯再等左45分鐘....... 最後用左2個鐘黎食依餐 >_<
本來用左2個鐘黎食都唔算大問題...但怡園坐得唔係太舒服...太多人係門口等位....又企到埋係你張台隔離~~ 不過又真係煮得幾好食既~~
