From a local Japanese site I learn that 山頭火 ramen arrived here in Vancouver! Anyone tried it before?!

The address is 1690 Robson Street, Vancouver (I think it is within walking distance from Kintaro Ramen)

Wow.... I never got a time to sit in and have a bowl in Hokkaido, but tried their packaged ramen & instant ramen, it's pretty good. Will try it.

Didn't know they have that many overseas store until I checked their website.

I tried it yesterday. Ordered the ikura-don (salmon roe on rice) + ramen set. Ikura-don was pretty good, ramen was so-so.

From my friend's picture. their ranem look almost the same as the one I ordered in Japan 2 years ago! I want to try. She said the size is kind of small. But I like small orders ^_^ (e.g. Menya's and shoryumen size is prefect)

其實,我地有少少失望。冇想像中咁好食。咁可能係因為朋友話有北海道風味,所以我有期望?
點都係冇日本個D咁好味架喇~

個湯底OK呀,好RICH。
我諗我地失望係因為我地覺得D麵唔好食。
即係。。。好似TWINS個隻個咁,叫人人彈起。
D拉麵SUPPOSE係彈架嘛,但係咬落一D都唔彈牙,又冇乜麵嘅香味。
可能B仔見識甚淺,未去過北海道只去過東京。。。。定係北海道D麵係咁嘅口感?
我係覺得,我係SUPERMARKET買嘅日本運過嚟嘅FROZEN拉麵,口感仲爽。。。只係湯底唔夠好。

HUNNIE話佢嘅IKURA飯OK。係鹹咗少少。不過好味過去魚王食DD喎~

我嘅叉燒粒飯。。。OK啦
冇咩特別

我地嘅CONCLUSION係。。。新野,可以去試吓嘅。唔係話唔好食。OK啦~

之後,同HUNNIE行咗上去食GELATO~~~ 好開心。

返到屋企,同細佬傾左一陣電話。
原來細佬已經試過呢間拉麵。我地兩個都覺得,都係金太郎隔兩三間鋪位嗰間好食D。

I actually prefer the thinner noodle at Menya here and at 博多一風堂 in Japan vs the 彈 teeth thick noodle. For Motomachi ... I prefer the original Kintaro. I guess their soup base is a bit too light and cos of the lineup.. I haven't been to Kintaro for years.

tried the shio ramen. the tonkotsu soup base was very creamy, which worked out for me because i prefer a thicker soup texture. the noodles were okay but not fantastic as they lacked a chewiness to it. i prefer the texture of the noodles at G-men but the soup base of Santouka. if only they would do a crossover...LOL

need to try Santouka a few more times to check out all their offerings. Benkei (Robson) is good but i find the soup base a bit too salty at times and it lacks texture. Kintaro has definitely gone downhill the last coupla times i've been there...the soup is usually warm, mostly salty which masks the natural flavour, and doesn't have the depth that it used to have (feels kinda diluted now). Haven't tried Motomachi enough times to judge but the last few times i tried it, it seemed decent (yet not drop dead delish).  Shoryumen's tonkotsu soup base has potential, haven't tried their other soups yet but plan on doing so soon.

finally had a try there last night!
I ordered the ikura bowl combo with shio ramen. It was $14, a bit pricey but I do love ikura >_<

my bf orded the miso ramen with salmon rice combo $12, but we both like my shio ramen better cuz the miso taste was strong and can't really have a good taste of the pork bone broth

he orded a large (+$1) and I ordered a small (-$1)

like people on this thread said, soup was good but noodle was so-so
but I will definitely go back to try more. It was quite satisfying overall.

It looks like all these Japanese la mian shops are not consistent enough. They are either lacking in the soup, or texture of noodles, too salty, overpriced etc. $12 for a thinly sliced fatty pork on la mian? You got to be kidding.

I cannot recall the taste of 弁慶ラーメン though, maybe it's just me, 弁慶ラーメン is not very impressive.

Oh and in case some fellow lyks don't know, Hokkaido soup base tastes richer (or saltier) than others, especially miso! Order Shio it's the mildest.

上星期五晚放工之後去咗試喇~ 等位等咗大約10分鐘,menu 好簡單係一般拉麵 menu 加有啲跟飯嘅 combo, 我叫咗個 miso ramen 跟三文魚(熟)泮白飯, 等咗唔夠5分鐘碗麵嚟咗先, 嚟到除咗見碗麵係好肥膩吓 (不過我預咗拉麵係肥嫁啦)但個樣都 ok 靚仔,碗麵 size 真係幾細碗, 如果 jai 叫麵一定要加大/麵先夠飽~

第一樣野就試吓個湯先啦。。。 幾 surprize, 因為日本野食通常都偏甜味嫁麻。。。 點知係超級鹹 。。。 係鹹到有啲過份 。。。 好似鹹到似果啲雲吞麵舖跟撈麵果碗高湯或者越南舖乾撈果碗差唔多咁鹹 。。。 我果兩塊叉燒真係好鞋。。。 不過好似我老公果碗冇咁嘅問題。 碗飯嚟到諗住啲麵咁鹹鑼嚟送飯都好渦 ~ 點知。。。 唔知點解個啲三文魚都好好好鹹 (似鹹魚咁嘅味!)!!! 跟住泮菜漬物咁 arm 又係鹹嘅 ! 連個半隻蛋都有是油醃過。。。 哈哈哈 。。。 鹹上加鹹。。。 問啲姐姐要茶佢話要加錢咁我都明嘅咁咪再問咁熱水哩點知都要加。。。 咁算咯咪唔要咯。。。
食完埋單兩位誠惠$30ish, 食拉麵嚟講都算貴。。。 可能係我叫錯野啦樣樣都鹹~ 我老公就覺得味道 ok 係貴過 Kintaro 同 Benkei 啦~  我諗我都係會返 Kintaro 食喇~

As I said Hokkaido miso 一定咸架!北海道拉麵係重口味架嘛

如果真係要叫醤油 or miso試下同server講薄味(hakumi), 睇下可唔可以做淡味D啦。日本可以呢度都應該得掛。

呢度D現成ikura真係咸到甩骨,腌左sit響度gum耐都好難唔咸哈哈

They put too much salt and msg in the soup.
This is very strange, since Hokkaido is in the north of Japan where the weather is cold. Usually, in hot places, the people put a lot of salt in the soup to replenish the salt lost by sweating.

塩基本上可以叫係原味添啦

話咸到過份就真係感覺有o的誇張囉.......^_^;;;
我只係記得味千o個個就真係叫咸啦............食過一次就無再去


同埋我叫碗small size都夠食囉
我bf叫large就食唔哂添 (不過佢的確係比較細食)

Tried yesterday, no line up around 3 pm. I had the Ikura combo, the soup is good, Noodles are ok,  Ikura rice is good but pricy, overall is worth it but probably wont order the combo again.

I do some some pictures but then it wasn't anything spectacular
me and my bf ordered a miso ramen + california roll
and they had a special going on which is for spending $10 before tax there, 3 pc of salmon sashimi is only $1.

personally I think the ramen was just so-so and yeah, I wasn't too happy that the lady was telling the chef in japanese that I was taking pictures while having ramen (but I heard her speaking mandarin to another customer, so I am not sure if she was chinese or japanese)

hahaha, the Japanese lady learned some Mandarin for conversing with the Chinese customers. Maybe you should learn some.
Maybe the lady is Chinese. We the Chinese control the Japanese food industry here.
