Hi, I just got back from my 2-day Seattle trip.  I stayed in Bellevue and it turned out to be a shopping trip.

Tips 1: Do not go through x-win border checkup because many people like to cut in front of you from the middle lane.  The sign board said it was supposed to be 30 minutes and it turned out to be 2.5 hours.  It was crazy.

When I made turn to the border lineup and be a good citizen and start to lineup at the left most lane.  The middle lane was supposed for nexus user; however, many people just drove through the middle lane and tried to cut into middle lane.  It was frustrating.  The passenger in the car in front of us even gave people middle finger when people tried to cut in front of her.

Tips 2: When I came back, there was no line up at all.  I bought approximately 400 dollars and I did not get charged duty and tax at all.

i remember one time i went to the states for shopping several years ago. it was a long weekend. i waited 6 hours....

i asked myself why did i wait that long? i can only say it was because i was stupid....

If the line up is really long at Truck Crossing (e.g over an hour), I would buy something at Duty Free (e.g. candy). If you cut through the Duty Free (which requires purchase), the line is usually half an hour long.

Also, I try to avoid peak hours by traveling at night time instead.

Or because your time was worthless.

Coming down to shop only makes sense if your time is worth less than the savings you can get.  But even so, the stuff you buy may not be actually worthwhile if they just end up sitting in the closets.

But in any case, Washington thanks you for supporting the state.

Most likely no.  she only asked me how much I spent.  I told her 400 bucks.  She asked me if I brought back any alcohol and I said no.  She let me through.  If I have bought the ipad, she would not know anyway.

Last time i wait 2 hours in the line before the duty free shop exit, and another 1.5 hour from the duty free shop exit to the border.
Thanks for the ppl who bought sh!t and cut in the line...

Well...there could be long line up inside duty free as well.
I went on Saturday and no wait since i have nexus...but if not...I wouldn't bother going...judging from the lineup distance....it should be around 2 hours wait.
Coming back around midnight...no wait! (both via truck crossing). Nexus lane closed early in the truck crossing lane though. I bought $250 (2 ppl) and no tax as well.

Well..soemtimes... I can't find that item locally...instead of buying online and wait for shipping, i'd rather to go to WA and shop la.

http://www.mingpaovan.com/htm/News/20100422/vap1h.htm
