同iphone一样功能的还少了打电话我买左64g wifi + 3g 想退不过要扣10%
上次到苹果问他们说ipad有80% laptop 的功能我觉得只有50%
kijiji upload 不到pictures, 除了 youtube之外的视频website基本上都看不到 video，说什么要安装adobe flash player latest version ，然后我想安装adobe又说你的仪器不能安装。。。
基本上除了看website 同youtube之外毫无用处，就是基本上可以输出不能输入，并且打印机都接不了，灰常灰常的废
真系一件奢侈品玩具。。。
而加唯有希望小狗们喜欢。。

btw,,,有jail break了么。。希望break了后有点看头。。

Girl,

Why are you surprised by the iPad's lack of features? The specs and functionalities have long been published, and the device isn't completely new -- our southern neighbours have had them for a while now. The inadequacies of the device have been well publicized and are thus well known. When you still chose to buy it despite what you know, what do you expect the others to think when you complain about those very same lack of features?

True, I certainly agree with that.

That's the kind of logic you are running. You are buying an iPad and expect it to do a Macbook's job. Steve Job clearly explained iPad is not a notebook and it's not an iphone. It's something in between.

FYI, there are apps that you can purchase to make it connect to your printer and print wirlessly. For girls like you I think the only thing you would do on a laptop is to watch TV & download BT. Wathcing illegal downloads is not the intention for any Apple's product.

I got a very similar experience bor!
I bought a new microwave oven which is a very expensive and latest model, and it's my first microwave oven actually. However, I am very disappointed wor. I can't put my normal stainless steel pan or bowl or dish in, I can't put egg with shell in or at least I have to poke the egg yolk first, I can't use aluminum foil to cover food while microwaving..... etc. I think my old conventional oven is way better. I feel so frustrated and troublesome.... ! Oh wait..... what? This is what a microwave oven should be? You must be kidding me, is this my problem? LOL

Told you so... iPad really sucks... just another toy for those who have lots of $$ to burn. I couldn't say they lack of any hardware feature, just that you have to pay for USB port and SD card slot if you need it.

I have discussed in previous thread about ipad few months ago, it's pretty useless.
And the way you have to hold it for hours doesn't work as well.

But it's apple. People will still buy it first even it's a piece of s h i t with apple logo on it.

I am one of the lucky one. I was able to take advantage of my iPad daily. At use it for meeting at work, going to calendar, take note, then email it to myself, so that I have all my note when I am back to office. Weekend, it would be use as for my personal and professional photo portfolio. I use it quite often to send out some quick emails to work early in the morning while I am still on bed, thanks for it's quick startup.
I also use it for crunchy roll for watching anime, and I have Netflix for view movies or adding instant tv watch while I am downstairs getting ready for dinner.
My 3 years old play car racing game, and some other kids learning games on it.
Bottom line, people should buy it only if they can take advantage of it.

Btw, I have 3 relatively new laptops, and the iPad has take over most of my daily needs with a laptop.

BTW, do people really find iPad expensive?? Honestly, I find it very inexpensive when the price was annouce. I was expecting an entry level price at over $700+

However, I find iPod or iPod Touch far too expensive...!

Personally, I wouldn't compare an iPad with a laptop, because they are very different, and they both have their own Pro/Con.

BTW, I hate how the iPad is limited to Adobe Flash, which sucks big time.... Yet, that's not enough to drive me away from buying it =P

The one feature which is probably ont a big deal in Vancouver is google map.  Here in Seattle, I would be using google map on my computer/phone/iPad daily.  I check things like restaurants around my area, traffic updates, and I was able to help a friend who was lost when my church is having BBQ at a new area..!  Originally, someone is going to drive out there, to pick them up, turned out I was able to locate where they are using my iPad google map, and provide them with directions.

My son likes those story books (try out the free version "Toys Story")

For those who go to church and read bible, try the free Bible makes by youversion.  It comes with build in with 30+ translation including reg. Chinese, and diff type of English translation.

For those who are familiar with Dropbox, you can use dropbox on iPad to access files you would like to share on the Cloud.  I have Jump for Remote Desktop Conneciton which I link with a wireless keyboard when do so.

The Calendar is quite good too.  large and easy to read, and it can display more than 1 calendar by using color code.

by all means I am still learning, and I am waiting for OS 4 which will allow mutlitasking.

People who ask "what can an iPad do" is like asking "what can a computer do". The device is just a platform jeh mah, it's the software who can do tons of different things lor. Go check out thousands of apps out there, that's what an iPad can do, which many of the apps are out of your imagination. If you don't explore with facts but only boycott it with bias, nothing you can learn more la.

Above are the things that can do better with iPad than iPhone. If you are a DJ, I see some cool apps that can do a lot of things too.

Main reason that i think ipad isn't 废 is because I just bought it for $499US @1:1 and Canada Custom didn't charge me any taxes. lol

好簡單, 就叫你單獨用個ipad上msn做video conferencing, 或者upload usb 手指D相入ipad, 今日來講, 就做唔到 (將來有external camera / adaptor 係將來既事; 將來可能可以加個binding做snowboard添...)
APPLE根本就故意拿走個CAMERA同USB PORT, 等不久將來有藉口出VERSION 2, 而中左蘋果毒既人亦多個藉口追新野咁解...

You have to admit that the bigger screen does make a difference. It's so much harder to read and type on a PDA Phone. I have a Motorola Droid now, I had a Samsung i760 WM, and a Treo700w.

Pesronally, I don't use my iPad for GPS, that what my in deck Pioneer GPS does.

So, I guess what I am trying to say is, if a PDA phone can do it, then the iPad can simply do it better.

I have to agree that they could have had more features put on it, rather than making people wait or upgrade to ver 2 or something, but then I think most companies are like that, rather it's for buying cars, TV, receiver, etc...!

你應該係買左個camera connection kit. 但呢個kit 只可以connect APPLE 出既USB KEYBOARD, CARD READER, 同 HEADPHONE. 你仍然係唔可以上MSN 做VIDEO CONFERENCING架. 連USB DRIVE 都唔可以用 (ok, 加電再加ssh再加jb可以加外置hd)...
除非大家講緊唔同o野...

How do you take notes on iPad?
If you put on table and type on the touch screen with 2 hands, then the angle is really bad if you put the iPad on table flat.  It's like 45 degree to the screen instead of 90 degree on laptop or smartphones.
Or you hold it with one hand and poke the touch screen to type with the other hand?
Or you put on your lap to type?
Or you find a sofa to put your laps up as a dock?

Any of the method above is not preferred.  Yes, iPad is between a laptop and smartphone, but it's not much better than smartphone.  And a smartphone can be used as a phone. Can you carry an iPad out without a phone?  But you can carry a smartphone (android) and do all the things you did with the ipad.
If you are going to need to bring a phone anyways, and if you want to type better, why don't you bring a small laptop instead?

If you don't have laptop, and you don't have a smart phone, and you need to type and read books on the go, and wouldn't mind carry such a huge device everywhere you go, then ipad is for you.

Or course, if you are a Apple fanbois, then ipad is for you too.

I might buy an iPad if it gets USB, Flash and Multi-task. Otherwise I rather buy a Macbook Pro and replaces all my computing need with 1 laptop. Spec-wise it seems the iPhone makes a lot more sense than the iPad hto.

That said. I never even know wut the heck an iPhone was until the Day I walked into the Apple Store in the states to play with it, and I purchased it 2 hours later.... So I can't say for sure until I have played with it.

I agree with you.  So, I would only recommend an iPad for anyone who know what they are doing, and what they needs.

I purchase most things with that in mind.

To give you an example, there are those, who would buy a DSLR, and end up having the camera sits & do nothing.

Here is a little history of how I would put my toys/tools.. in use.

I bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 w/Quadradrive, I know nothing about 4 wheeling at the time, but soon learn about what it is about few months before I bought the Jeep.  It's designed with off road capability, and I ended up taking my Jeep off-road with 2 local 4x4 clubs, and have done many 4x4 trips over the 4-5 years, and been to many places an average person wouldn't even dare to go with a brand new car.

I am now driving a Subaru Sti.  No, I don't take it to go Rally, but I have done auto-cross, and took track day classes, and took it for track day, so that I can learn how to properly drive, or drive high performance car properly.

I bought my 1st computer when I was grade 9 knowing nothing about computer.  I start out playing games, then gained enough knowledge to work as a computer tech, and own a computer consulting business.  I am now having a career in IT Network Administration.

I bought my film camera 10+ years ago, switch over to DSLR, I am now shooting professional DSLR doing professional wedding photography as one of the best photographer for a wedding studio here in Seattle, and also having my own wedding photography business.

So, my point is this: The value of your purchase doesn't come from what features of your purchase item, but more about rather or not the product is right for you, and if you can take advantage of what it has to offer.  That's where the value comes from

Again, that just my 2 cents.

Same theory la, people can have thousands reasons and excuses for not liking it ga wor. Camera on iPad? That must be a joke lor. Think about the camera is in the size of 8 inch x 10 inch?! Who wanna hold it like that?! Would you use your plasma TV to take photos even if it can? I won't lor.

You think PC or Mac can work great without any other hardware accessories? How about people use external hard drives, usb hubs, speakers, headphone, and much more? Don't tell me a PC or Mac can work perfectly all by itself lor. And this is not an argument about whether PC or Mac is better than iPad or not. As many members mentioned, iPad is not a deluxe toy. It's only a useful tool for those people who need it for their business or studying. Not everyone needs it and not everyone knows how good it is lor.

In fact, iPad is NOT a mini computer. Apple didn't intend to make iPad as a mini computer but lack of several features. It's just many people try to compare iPad with computer and laptop and netbook and whatever, which is not fair la. As per my previous example, I compare microwave oven with conventional oven, which something a microwave oven can't do, but apparently microwave oven is not useless ah mah. I think people should do some research before buying an iPad (or many other things), to make sure they like it or not then decide to buy it or not. Rather than they have some spare money on hand and therefore they buy it but find out they didn't like it and comment the device is useless lor. Doesn't mean everyone should love it wor.

My dad bought top model one last Friday too. Cuz of by the time he line up there, they just only have top model one. And he line up for 2 hours for it.
I found out i can't do anything with it without go online. It's look like my iPhone in big version but cannot phone people. It's sucks

I'm happy that I decided to buy the cheapest model, it is fun and handy. Definitely I will think iPad is somehow 废 if I buy 64GB+3G

Maybe you should check out Itunes store for what kind of apps will be useful for you before making the decision la.
