Backyard chicken coops set to be legalized in Vancouver
Bylaws have strict parameters
John Streit Jun 06, 2010 20:30:10 PM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - They're already legal in many major cities across North America, and on Tuesday Vancouver city council is expected to enact a bylaw which allows the keeping of backyard chickens. You'll have to abide by certain rules; coops can contain no more than four hens, and no ostriches or giant turkeys.

The bylaw also has parameters about the size of the enclosure, along with its location on your property. If you were planning on gathering eggs from the deck of your Yaletown apartment or front yard, expect a visit from animal control officers. And sorry West Enders, no chickens will be allowed on balconies.

good... now that we can be awaken by those chickens, save a lot of money by buying alarm clocks

actually... i think you're only allowed to have hens... and no roosters... so technically speaking.. you wouldn't get waken up by them.. still need alarm clocks

A rooster would not wake you up at the specific time you want
to wake up, just when it is bright outside.
It costs way more to build the shelter for 4 hens,
    plus feeds and other expenses.
Alarm clock only cost a few dollars and lasts for years.
Most cell phones now have build in alarm

i think having them in the backyards will attract the coyotes. i see coyotes at night from time to time looking for food. so if the chickens are not properly and securely caged in the backyards, they will eventually become the coyotes' dinner.......
