Since we're on the subject of wheels in this other thread, perhaps we can talk about wheel options for MY crappy sub-$100k car~

As the thread title says, I'm looking for some 17x8, 5x114.3 wheels that has a high offset in the 50 - 55mm range. I won't claim to know my wheels all that well, but on Tire Rack, I think the only wheel that meets my criteria is the Enkei PF01, and I am not a fan of its looks.

So is anyone aware of other options? These HRE, TechArt, Axis, or whatever are probably all out of my price range la, so no need to recommend those~

Bro Lik, I suggest you don't get into odd size wheels as it is very pricy and difficult to find tires for the future.

Many manufacturers OE comes in odd size (BMW, Mazda), and I can tell you how hard it is to find something else that fits.

BTW..> sub $100k is not crappy.

OE 個 tire size 已經係非常之騎呢，而選擇亦唔多。如果可以 upgrade 到去 17x8 嘅話，反為個 selection 仲會好啲。

我哋呢啲窮仔就唔覺 $100k 嘅車係 crappy 嗟，但人哋富貴果啲就架車無 $100k都唔考慮㗎嘛～

你肯跑7仔鈴就仲多跑呔揀啦！17x8既話我會揀D +42至+45mm一類既offset，起碼honda/acura/subaru等等都應該岩裝﹖

ar lik gor should use RX7 rims la..unless you dont' like the appearance of it. it is the most cost effective way to do it.. 16" tires are also cheaper... Remember Brian and Jim from Okanagan came to VCMC series 2 with NC on the 7jai rims, they have A6 and it was pretty damn quick too

7仔鈴唔係唔好，但係配我套死人 size (205/45/17) 就真係麻叉煩。行細啲 (225/45/16) 會比較好力，但依家過屋企車房個 bump 嘅時候已經好容易刮底，再行細啲嘅話會仲大鑊。而且架車個 6速波箱已經成日唔夠轉數，條直路一長少少我就係咁 bounce...

行大啲 (225/50/16) 我又驚佢副偈會無奶力，個轉數扯上去會扯得太慢...

個人覺得，如果真係夠位可以俾我搞掂個 235/40/17 嘅話，咁條呔就最闊、最好彎，而最好彎亦應該即係會最快。下個月 test fit 吓人哋套 235/40/17 on 17x7.5 ET48嘅時候，希望可以搞掂 clear 到 fender。咁我就可以去班返套 17x8 ET48 嘅 6ULR 來玩。如果真係要玩到轉大個窿嘅話，咁其實都幾麻煩㗎。

我自己開條 thread 出來，係因為我自己要搵鈴。HRE, TechArt, Axis呢幾個牌子我都唔識，但你響條 Porsche thread 講得出來，我心諗都一定係貴野啦。咁我又偏偏係死窮鬼一個，咁咪講定我買唔起呢啲名牌高價貨囉～

Umm... If I end up trading in my STi, I will have a set of BBS gold wheels with my original snow tires on... they are 5x114.3

I am quite seriously considering that route as well. But the problem is the centre bore of the STI wheels are too small (56.1mm, I think), and mine are 67.1mm. So as they are, they would not fit. I could potentially have the centre bore machined (both wider and deeper, from the homework I've done) to make them fit, but then I'd need to find a reputable shop to do that, and I have no idea who can do the work well locally, nor do I have any idea how much that'd cost.

If I can avoid it, I'd much rather find an off-the-shelf solution to address the "problem".

But chobit, what are the conditions of your wheels? and how much are you looking for them (with or without the tires)? And I suspect your snow tires are 225/45/17? What model and how old are they?

Lik, boring out wheel's center is not rocket science. Bring them to the wheel repair shops (at least two reputable shops here) and they should able to do that.

I had research that before (to fit Miata wheels on Honda). Many people did that and some even DIY using a hand drill. You wouldn't need to enlarge the whole wheel center. You just need to drill enough out to clear the hub. That wouldn't weaken the wheel's strength.

For my case, a thin wheel spacer already make it works and I didn't bore out my wheels.

It comes with my 06 sti, they turn out to be my winter wheels average 5 months of usage per year, so it have been use for about 15 months or so..! they have curb rash (Is that how they call it), but I was told it can be repair, but then it's only for the look, so as far as functionality go, they are in perfect shape. If I end up trading in my STi, I know the dealer wouldn't want those wheel, so I'll probably just craiglist it for $500 or something...! Afterall, I don't want waste time dealing with....... you know people...!

They are not aftermarket BBS wor.. ! Subaru STi have choice of color wheels, and I bought my STi in Gold, then bought another almost new set from a local STi owner who want aftermarket wheels

So Chobit, just to let you know, if it isn't evident from reading this thread, I haven't really decided on which route to proceed as far as my wheels needs are concerned. Picking up a set of STI wheels is certainly a very attractive option, but so is 6ULR or RPF1 or some other wheel that I have yet to come across. The top priority is fitment because I don't want anything to rub at all. I don't want to give you any false or misleading hope that I am definitely going to buy your wheels if you're selling la.

Yeah.. that I don't know.. I kept my BBS not because of look, but because they are strong and light. It's actually very difficult to find higher performance wheels for STi unless you have money to burn.....
