In the past few years more and more shopping malls have started to allocate a few parking spots for families where the mom was expecting or they have young children. When I first saw it I thought it was a great idea because I have friends who have young kids and I know they have soooo much stuff to carry with them when they bring the baby out. Now that I'm expecting I appreciate this more as I don't want to walk anymore than I need to!

Today lunch I went to Richmond's public market where they have ... 3-4 of those spots? Just as I was parking I see this young couple who just bought BBtea coming out and going into the car in the spot that has the expectant mom/young children designation...I don't know why but I feel very disgusted that people don't respect the parking signs!

Then do you approach them and tell them who the spots are reserved for?

Even last 2 yr I have been using those parking spots ..

However, I still think there are WAY too many ..  like ~ 12-15 for each super store, 15-20 for Ikea ..  ~ 20 for costco ...   most the time, they are EMPTY!

No la I was parking when they went on the car, then when I'm out they left already...

I don't know, sometimes I just feel that this is common courtesy...but I guess not everyone thinks that way.

Catpiano - I didn't know there were so many! With Ikea though they have a few sets of spots..like ones for hybrid cars and ones for coop cars...

I think if there are empty handicap spots, that couple will park in handicap spot as well....
these ppl are so disrespectful.

but at least with the handicap spots, you need a pass and you can potential get tickets right? These other ones don't have pass ma..

Up to how old (the baby) can park at those parking spots? 2? 3?

9 of out 10 those Handicap or Family spots are taken by nice car and young chinese (how sad)...

Once I want to park those spots (i have a child) in Aberdeen but all were taken.  Once I parked my car, I would like to check those suspicious cars and see if they look like they have Baby or Children...

Usually I see mini cooper or TT or other 2 doors exotic cars....
I don't know why but I have a feeling that those rich kids like to park those spots as to show off that they have a super nice car. Remember, those spots are at the high traffic area and close to the mall entrance... LOL

Getting a handicap pass isn't hard.  I saw few times that a slam 2-door sport car driven by asian kids took the handicap spot and then pull up a handicap pass.  One time I walked by and asked the kid who in his car was handicap and he just ignored me, didn't even showed a tiny bit of embarrassment.

Another time, I scream to a mainland lady who took a handicap spot at Crystall mall and then she got mad and said it was none of my business.  I shot out loud saying that she was mentally handicap when I drove off.

"mentally handicap" good comment!!! Those people always made me mad in the parking lot and they never know how to respect the others!!!
作者: tofu    時間: 2010-7-15 20:58

i saw a guy took the handicap spot when another person with handicap sign was waiting for that spot.  so i said it loud in front of the first driver, his wife and his son, "shame on you" and good example to your son.
but probably i will use "mentally handicap" next time, good one.

I know it pisses people off when you actually need the parking space but anyways...
get over it 係甘架啦

ha ha mentally handicap, that IS a good one...

Hey David, this forum is to complain about behaviors that we don't like a mar...at least give us this space to complain!

作者: siumaibb    時間: 2010-7-16 08:35

That can be, I can give them the benefit of the doubt. But they all must be in the first few months of pregnancy because none of the girls have a tummy!

But the point of having those spots is for people who need them...when I was 3-4 months pregnant I didn't take those because I can still walk normally. Recently I feel more tired because the baby's growing and so I think its good to have those spots. Same thing with small children and needing to bring their strollers/huge baby bags/etc.

I think unless you are in those groups (really handicapped, or really pregnant or have young kids) it is hard to understand the frustration you feel when you see this happening.

It is all those "get over it" people that promoted all these bad behaviors.

Agreed..
Pregnant women actually don't need those parking spots as they need to walk "more". LOL...

I hear you.... I had to walk with my broken shoulder a bit far from the doctor's office because all the NON patients took the patients' only parking spots!!!
I didn't drive and I thought I was well enough to walk a little so my bf didn't drop me off at the entrance.
作者: raffaello    時間: 2010-7-17 15:25

Shame on these people for taking those spots. The sad thing is I actually saw Asian doing this more than Caucasian. However, I also saw some families w/ young kids (or seniors) stopping right in front of the mall entrence unloading passengers, sometimes blocking the whole road all the way to the parking entrance or creating a long lineup behind them. I don't like that even I understand they have difficulty because they can stop their cars in one of those minor aisles close to the mall entrance (aside, not in the middle of the aisle). Really, it is not necessary to make convenience for themselves by making inconvenience for other people.
