Looks like the headlights are ripped off from the Lexus

The tail lights are also copied from the Camry.

But that is okay since it is a German car, so no one noticed it. It is not a copycat.

Th Germans can "copy" from other car companies and no one will say they copy.
All car companies copy from each other.
For example the cube cars, are copied by so many car makers.

It is funny how whenever someone sees a Chinese car they immediately look for similarities with existing well known brands/models. While a more reputable brand can copy other's designs and no one says a thing.

LOL~

So the Mercedes has a hood, a cabin, a trunk, and 4 wheels. I guess Mercedes is copying Toyota as well?

While you can say that there are some similarities between the Mercedes' headlights to the Lexus', the overall front end design is completely different. The Mercedes' lines are a lot bolder, angular, and the lights are smaller. The Lexus' lines are softer and more gentle. At the most, you can say that the Mercedes has taken design cues from the Lexus, but then they went ahead and wrought those with their own interpretation and styling la.

And then there are the taillights. They don't even resemble each other. The shape and the number of panels / coloured strips are totally different la.

A moron will always be a moron...

Thank you for agreeing with me. That was my exact point.
So the Chinese car has a hood, a cabin, a trunk, and 4 wheels. Then they are copying as well?
Any time the Chinese make a car, with doors and wheels, people will find a part that looks like another car, and then claim it is a copy. We all know car makers copy from each other all the time. But the Chinese car makers design a large number of models these days. You can say the Chinese borrow ideas more from others, since they are newer, but that does not mean other car makers do not copy.
In the example that I gave, if that Mercedes is a Chinese car, what will people say? Of course they will say it is a copy, even if only some parts or angles look similar.

So if it is a Chinese car maker: it is a copy.
If it is another car maker: just borrow ideas, inspired by others, or taken design cues from others.

I don't think all Chinese design cars are copycat. In fact, most are not copycats.
The few examples of copycat that people talk about are the same that they use as examples year after year.

We are talking about different things here. The car makers in China have thousands of models. There are only a few examples of "copycat" in the past, and these examples are now being talked about again and again, year after year.

But Chinese car designers have moved forward already. Most Chinese cars that I have seen are not copy at all, but with their own design. The technical quality aspect is also now achieving the same standard as other countries.

Some people are still jealous about the rapid rise of Chinese car design and Chinese car market.

Exactly my point here, people just keep on talking about the same old "copycat" from many years ago. No one even buy these copycat in China, as they prefer the Chinese designed models.

The Samsung Galaxy is clearly a copy of the 3gs, but no one talk about it as copycat.
If Samsung is a Chinese company, what will people say?
作者: ricrick    時間: 2010-9-6 16:51

if samsung was a chinese company, i would be very proud!
in fact, most of my lcd tv and mon are made by samsung.. but wait.. according jacky chan, TV made in china will explode!

in this post-modern era, nothing is new, ppl use old things, especiallly the good things, to learn and to inspire themselves to make somethings better.. but our great motherland ppl are just too smart... what they know are copy and fake. there is nothing BETTER then the others.   i really don't know why.. is there really a market?

1)We are talking about "copycat" cars from a few years ago, that people talk about again and again for a few years. Those models that they copied are old, like that BMW. The market for copied cars is limited anyway.

2)Sure, there are people who make faked handbags, but you should not forget that, there are even more companies using their own brand names.
Chinese brand names like Li Ning, Anta in sports gear, Lenovo, Skyworth, Konka, TCL in computer electronics and TV, Haier in home appliances, Metersbonwe and online retailer Vancl in fast fashion etc are all using their own brand names.
And of course, the powerful Baidu.com and Tencent's QQ messenger.

An interesting example, Metersbonwe and its me-city brand competes right on with H&M, zara. uniqlo etc

3)South Korea and Japan are ahead in their stage of economic development, so they are more successful in their branding.
At this stage of economic development, China needs to develop and strengthen their own brand names.
