I find it funny when people complain about gas prices at the pump.  All you need to do is to "lock-in" your rates when oil was trading at $35 per barrel.  If you threw $10K into the oil market at that time, you are good with many years of gas.

Its ok to be cold, but hopefully the snow condition is not going to be as bad as end of 2008.  We have a 4 wheel drive car, with snow tires.  But still not able to drive out our street, to make it to the big street.

2008 is bad, but not the worst...
Having a SUV driving under extreme weather is a bad idea, but this seems happening to new immigrants especially the young new drivers...
The best option - Stay at home...

2008... Never got stuck once driving only the back wheels on snow tires, even in deeply snowed in and iced up side streets. There were close calls where the car struggled a lot, but never even had to take out the shovel.

Having that said, I've seen a Porche Cayenne stuck going up SFU back in 06, when my beater on all seasons just continued on... Definately need to plan your route and not try to work against gravity and icy surfaces in the winter tho.

Bring the snow! If this thread is any true, will probably go for a 5 day EDGE pass instead of a 3 dayer!

I totally agree... Always plan on your route to stay on flat spots as much as possible. On slope or off slope, better wait until the city trucks come by. Keep +/- 3 to 5 spacing away from the front vehicle. Driving at +/- 30km with gentle accel/decel. Stay away from the luxury vehicles including SUV if possible...etc.

At the beginning of heavy snow, better stay at home for +/- 2 days.
作者: chobit    時間: 2010-10-7 09:45

I used to love the snow more when I lived in Richmond...!  Driving in the snow on flat is pretty easy..!  At least when I compare that to Seattle where hills are everywhere in the city, where the roads are mostly not shovel

I experienced -40 in Fort Murray during a X'mas.

However, driving in those condition is relatively safer than those black-ice and slushy snow in Vancouver especially with our un-educated drivers here.

People up there keep food outdoor for long term storage.
When they need to cook something, they take it in door
to defrost. Just the opposite way
There was a diamond rush back in 70's, many Chinese people
became rich.
